Explorer.exe not shutting down automatically when using WindowFX?

As much as I love WinFX, it's annoying to have to force explorer.exe closed in order to shut down. If I uninstall it, then shutdown is fine - any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks...

I have this problem too, under Windows 2000 (though it sometimes happens in XP too). Surely someone else must have encountered this? Do the guys at Stardock know? In know for a fact that this did not happen in 1.x version.

My shutdown sometime acts like a reboot, does that count

It's possible I suppose. It is quite an anoying bug actually. Messes up an otherwise tidy setup as far as I'm concerned.

I seem to have noticed that the problem only occurs when I set WinFX 2.2 to load at startup, but this does not happen everytime. Try it both ways, manually and automatically and see what happens.

Doesn't seem to matter how I set it now, it hangs I.E. after running for several days.
Shutting off WinFX altogether, problem dissapears.
I am using XP Home.

I initially posted this in the wrong thread!

I think I have this problem solved now. I downloaded an app called Quick Shutdown which forces a shutdown of all apps. It won't let explorer hang. I set hot keys Ctrl+Shift+S for shutdown and Ctrl+Shift+R for restart. Works a treat!

Now I definitely have the correct solution to this problem.

Start - Run - Regedit
Navigate to the following Registry key:
HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Double click on the AutoEndTasks entry and replace the 0 with a 1 in the Value data text box

I've done this and no more problem.
