REMOVING RAINLENDER

Wha happens when you attempt to remove it from control panel > add or remove programs? Or from the start menu?

Have you ever seen it?

This has happend to me several times when a certain skin crashes the program.

The only answer i have found is to Uninstall Rainlendar and do a re-install/Works everytime

I think rainlendar may be configured somehow to appear off your screen. This happened to me one time, I don't know exactly how but it was set to be at x,y co-ordinates that were out of my resolutions limits. I think you might be able to edit your rainlendar.ini file, make sure x and y coords are within monitor range and also check that there is no StartHidden=1 line, if there is delete it. If you then restart your pc it may reappear.

Remove the link in the startup menu item, as follows:-

Start menu/All Programs/Startup - Rightclick the item and select Delete from the sub-menu

close the Rainlendar.exe process from the task manager.
delete the Rainlenar folder.
delete HKCU/Software/Rainlities from the registry (might be older versions only).
done.

that´s caused by clueless skinners that use hardcoded paths in skins. just open the skin´s INI file and remove all paths there.

Wow thanks for all the replies. I have tried each one and still nothing works. Whenever I do the uninstall I get a message saying:-

RAINLENDER IS RUNNING. PLEASE CLOSE IT BEFORE TRYING TO UNINSTALL THE APPLICATION.

I have downloaded MST REALDELETE, but I don't quite understand how that works as I don't want to delete anything I shouldn't!

Which OS are you running?

If XP, does it show up in the task Manager? If so, you should be able to highlight it and tell it to "End Task". Then uninstall it. If another OS, let us know, there are ways to terminate the program.

I have no idea why its doing that. In fact, why is it running in the first place?

In your programs start are look for something called Start-UP. 9If that is what it is called)

Maybe you still have an icon there that start up Rainy when you turn your computer on.

Sugeestion 2 is to re-install Rainy and THEN uninstall it again. If that doesn't work then uninstall it with XP uninstall programs.


I would also suggest getting SpyBot Search and Destroy. You just might have something ELSE on your computer that is causing problems with Rainy as fars as it working on uninstalling.


SpyBot also has a feature that allows you to SEE what programs are opeing on system Start-Up.

Start/Run (type in regedit) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / RAINLENDAR....delete the thang

or my method: hit the montitor very hard, yell at the computer and tell it that if that daggum rainlender doesn't vacate that you will puttings its chips into nacho cheese.

Or go into the taskmanager and in the processes find one that has a name close to that of rainlender. Don't shut it down yet because it might be the wrong one and your computer will get sick. I am not sure what the name is because I don't use rainlender but I have had other programs do this to me. If you would post the name of the one you think it is or if somebody else will post the name of the process or I will go get rainlender (which I have been meaning to do) and we'll get the right process shut off. Once that process is off rainlender should uninstall correctly.

alright its called rainlender.exe.

reiterrating: open the taskmanager by pressing ctrl+alt+delete. Go to the processes tab. find the process called rainlender.exe. click on it once at adn the lower right there is a button called end process click it. If it asks if you want to do this click yes. Now you should be able to uninstall from the add/remove programs dialogue

It seems to me that rainlender is stuck on a bad theme. Here's what you can do. I've had this problem before. If you are using winXP, press ctrl-alt-delete. Under processes, look for rainlender. Highlight it, and click end process. Then, if you remember the last theme you applied with rainlender, go to its directory and delete that folder. Then, you can restart rainlender from its program shortcut. It should say that the last theme is missing and it is going to apply the default theme. That should fix your problem. The custom rainlender skin was bad for your system. It could be a old version of rainlender(as it was with mine), or just a rainlender skin that doesn't work right for you. For me, it was both. I updated rainlender and the author fixed his skin for me. If this doesn't work, once the rainlender process is ended, you can uninstall it. But, I think the above will solve your problem.

Hey you guys are great - I think so many people would reply to my little old problem.

Anyway I finally got rid of the ******* thing thanks to joetheblow, but not before taking Travis the Crazy's advice. Only one prob with putting my computer chips in the nachos is that I love Mex food sooooooooo much I might have ended up needing ctrl-alt-delete myself!
