Groupy has taken over my other computer!

How to get past this to delete Groupy?

bought object Desktop in the Fall of 2018. It was right after I had upgraded a 2013 Windows 8 computer to Windows 10. Start8, of course, did not work with Windows 10. Stardock offered a deal on object Desktop. I bought and installed it.

Groupy took over that computer!  Groupy demands a Product key. If I type one letter: Groupy deletes it and demands a product key. If I close that window and close the Groupy window it almost instantly reopens itself and demands a product key.

I tried to sign up for 30 days--again, one letter and it deletes and starts over.

All l want to do is to delete groupy. But I cannot get to anything on the computer behind it. I cannot open control panel, I cannot get to a file manager. It even seems to be blocking opening the laptop in safe mode.

I have been still using my old, 2010 Windows 7 laptop, but obviously that is no longer supported and so I have to get past Groupy.

How can I get past its windows so I can delete it?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Try the purge part of this guide to remove Groupy and report back.

https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#reinstalling

Make sure to reboot after the purge. And retest.

Thanks

I was not able to use that process because I could not get to that process.

But I was able to enter the product key--one letter at a time.  I mean that I had to re-touch the screen several times between each letter of my e-mail address and of the product key.  Then it opened the Object Desktop list.  I was able to maneuver to delete Groupy.  But after the computer restarted, it is still cycling through the Vaio screen with a few icons, a blank green screen, and a blank Vaio screen.  It appears that it is cycling from Windows 10 to Start10 to the green screen.  It does hold longer on the Start10 screen with the icons.  The Windows10  screen has no icons.

None of the icons open anything.  There is no Object Desktop icon--nor any icons for any part of Object Desktop.   Holding down any key or so far any key combination does not stop the cycling process.  The cycle takes 5-6 seconds.

I know that I did not have this cycling situation before Object Desktop was installed.

That is all I know.

It sounds like the issue is explorer is crashing out for some reason which is why you are having the cycling issue.  When explorer restarts you would get Groupy checking for activation again and prompting which would be why you see that over and over.

I cannot say why this is happening as that's clearly not typical behaviour from our software as it would be hard to sell any from a trial if it broke like that normally.

If you hold down the CTRL key when logging in you should find it stops most of the Stardock apps launching.  This would help you uninstall Groupy if it is indeed the cause.

If this does not work then you should be able to boot into safe mode from the login screen by holding down SHIFT when clicking the shutdown button I seem to recall.  None of the SD apps will launch in safe mode.
