Can't contact someone for permission... Any suggestions?

I did a rework of a Sysmetrix skin by someone else. I made it compact, changed some things around, etc., and was wanting to ask permission to post. But the author has no email address listed. I know I can't post without permission as the graphics are still basically the original. The author is also a very prominent skinner here, whom I do not wish to offend. Any suggestions?

Did you check the original sysmetrix skin for an email address or web site? You could also see if they have a deviantArt page with more information on it.

No link or email in post, So I put up a thread, hopefully he checks the message board. I'm not sure how to search for a person on DA, plus don't know if he uses same handle....

Did you try posting a comment on his skin asking him to contact you? I think most people check for new comments on their skins pretty regularly.

Personally, I think it is a waste of time modifying someones sysmetrix skin. They are simple to create once you understand the coding. Maybe you should use the knowledge and ideas to create a new one and then you won't need permission. I cleaned up and modified quite a few of them, but I just kept them for my personal use, and used the knowledge to create new original skins when I was inspired. Of course, I don't submit work here anymore. So, don't bother looking for mine. Just a suggestion. I think you will feel more satisfaction if you make one yourself.

~ Also try doing a google search for his username. You might get a hit on a page that does have contact info. I've found that google can find ANYTHING!
