Lost All Default Icons for Music /Movie Files in Windows 10 - Solutions?

I've had the most awful experience with Icon Packager in Windows 10 64-bit.

After using Icon Packager the default file icons for all my music and movie files are blank white file icons. The default Icons are still present on my system but nothing will allow me to change them back to the default types.

Using Icon Packager to chose the default files won't work - they result in the same blank file icons.

I've tried everything to recover them:

-Uninstall/reinstall Icon Packager

-System Restore

-System File Checker (sfc.exe)

-Rebuild Icon Cache

Nothing will allow me to have the default Windows icon files for music / movie types back.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try the purge steps listed here : https://forums.stardock.com/485953/iconpackager-support-faq#reinstalling

Make sure to reboot after the purge. And retest. Report back.

Thanks

Please try the following:

-For Win8/10 Users: Open the Start Screen, and type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator' from below.

-Type: sfc /scannow

-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system

If the SFC finds errors, but cannot fix them, please also run the following command in the same command prompt window:

dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

The above command should assist with replacing any damaged or problematic system files. Please note, however, since it may require restoring certain files, this process can take some time and you will need to be patient until it has completed.

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

Thank you,

I have partially fixed some icons.  This restores some default icons but not all (.mp3). Thank you for all your help, I really appreciated it.

Here is the partial Windows 10 solution for future use:

1. Open Windows settings

2. Search for 'Turn Windows Features On/Off'

3. Select Media Features and turn off Media Player. Allow to complete process.

4. Reboot.

5. Open Windows settings

6. Search for 'Turn Windows Features On/Off'

7. Select Media Features and turn ON Media Player. Allow to complete process.

8. Reboot.

Hi, Basj I need you escalate this with support. I am also mailing sales.

I finally managed to use System Restore to restore my PC to the date before I installed Windowblinds. The problem was not fixed.

I had to uninstall my antivirus then use system restore. Then to reinstall my antivirus I had to use an app that removed all previous elements of the AV. Then I had to reinstall all the windowblinds software in order to uninstall them because system restore had made normal uninstall impossible. It took 2 days and much stress.

Sadly, even though I like what it can do, I have no confidence in using Windowblinds any further because I can't have the risk of it corrupting Windows 10 again in some way.  I have no use for it. Could I please request a full refund for my purchase. Thank you. My Order number is 4340180.

Quoting MAILITY, reply 13

End of MAILITY's quote

Do you actually have a problem.  Or did you just copy that from the TS first post?

Thank you,
