How to debug Acoustic Bridge stopping sound

I keep losing sound coming from the transmitter PC on the receiver PC. There is nothing happening to cause this that I can see; power management is effectively 'off' and nothing else is happening. I'm just using the receiver to get the sound from another PC. It seems to happen at random times. I've had it work for six hours, then stop twice in an hour.

If I open the receiver AB window and click 'Change Receiver Passcode', then just press enter without changing anything, the sound works again.

Any suggestions how to work out what is going wrong? Is it likely just a problem happening on the receiver PC, given the above info, or does that make no difference and it could be on either? I have just reinstalled the Tx PC and it's practically a clean install. The issue still happens as it did before.

OS=Windows 7x64, fully patched (apart from the last few months' complete mess by MS)

If either leg of the transmission is wireless (send or receive), try making both Ethernet.

It's all wired, through a gigabit Cisco switch

ETA: AB is permitted in my firewall which has not logged any blocks. Given that AB can work for (so far) up to six hours, I doubt it's anything to do with the firewall. I don't use an active antivirus so it's not that.

Today AB stopped sound (on the receiver) only two minutes after starting up the Tx PC and starting to use it, and three times since in about two hours. It's borderline unusable like this.

The service is still running when I check on the receiver. I can't see any obvious cause.
