I think that you are on to something here.
But Green day? dookie was when they turned away from their punk roots.
Also i was wondering where are the Plasmatics?
I really think that Frank Zappa was the thinking man's punk rock hero too!

Agreed, having them at number 2 is, imo, ridiculous, but then again, since when has Kerrang! been a reliable magazine?

Kerrang! is cool, Mack more cooler than your boring 'Newsweek'

I have some ?s about how they decided AFI was punk too.
They don't like the circle jerks either.

Geez,

Green day has always sounded like that. I was watching them at Gilman Street back in the early 90's and they basically are the same.

I do have a few issues with some on the list...But overall they're good choices!

4. Nirvana - Nevermind
They ain't punk.... I have never understood why people lump them in.

5. The Offspring - Smash/20. The Offspring - Americana
METAL....not punk. I don't care what the labels say

14. Blink 182 - Enema Of The State
Noooooooooooooooooooo! Kiddie Power Pop! NOT punk!

46. Napalm Death - Scum
Grindcore METAL at it's finest! But i can see why they put them on the list!

I almost punched out the singer of the Circle Jerks at an after show party in 89... What a f**king a**hole!

I am a fan of some of the Irish Punk bands too.
(and I will admit to liking to listen to some Skate/ska punk, Goldfinger anyone?)
I also think that Pump up the Valium by NOFX should be on there, my Kids and I love that one . (I don't play the one about Louise to them tho')
I still think Wendy O. Williams and the Plasmatics were the wildest Punk-Metal insanity around. What could be more punk than W.O.W.?

I also have to wonder about Sublime being on that list...I like them, but they're closer to ska than punk.
Goldfinger is ok too, their cover of 99 luftballons is cool.
I also think "Liza and Louise" is the greatest lesbian punk song in the history of lesbian punk songs
