just reinstalled win 7 home professional. Now windows 7 doesn't recognize my HDMI monitor, and other items. I thought win 7 was plug n play - auto detect hardware and cue user to get drivers, yada. After reinstall sys not recognize yada. Spent about 6 hours on web sites, googling/binging, yada. Lost I am. I reinstalled this exact system several years ago with zero problems. Think I did exact same thing. Result different. Umm.
Cause (this time). I allowed nvdia to update driver THEY selected as appropriate upgrade. Their process included creating a restore point. (I had several already saved.) All seemed fine. When I powered up, next day - no dice. Win auto fix fail, tried all choices, none work. F-8 safe mode boot from win disk work - but not offer any fixes. And No restore point exists! Auto fix said bad driver. (looks like Nvdia did it.)

How do I get correct drivers for these? How I get win7 to recognize my non PnP monitor, graphics card, MB etc. Tried several programs from major geeks. They were cons to get me to buy software. Say free download (but afterwards, must register to actually use, must purchase to register - NOT stated upfront. Hate sleezware. My backup/sys restore image on DVD is 'missing.' Appreciate simplified help in fixing this. Future?take away? I will keep 2 or 3 sys restore images on DVD. Again, thank you.
