Let's talk about the Priest

The next sovereign to come up is the Priest.

The priest is going to be the sovereign that does the best at keeping the Doomsday counter under control as well as decreasing the perceived threat they pose to the Sorcerer King.

Broadly speaking, the Priest is going to get a special resource called Destiny's Favor. They will start with 3 of them and come with an assortment of unique to the priest spells that are incredibly powerful but consume one of these favors. So consider the priest as being the sovereign with a bit of a connection to higher powers.

I intended to go into more detail but I'm a bit under the weather. So I will open the floor to hear some of the things you would like to see and see how we might be able to fit them in to the priest.

I was supporting your suggestion thimon2k, and agreeing with Heavenfall - that directly manipulating the doomsday counter is dull vs. doing so via second hand methods (like restoring or creating a shard); then piggybacking to comment on the consequential immersion break, exemplified by the Reduce Doomsday spell as it is currently in game.

Addition: and again we agree - flavor text, and titles, definitions, etc. are extremely important; especially concerning immersion.

Ok, thank you. I misunderstood what you were saying. 

 

The priest is the only new soverign in the next beta3, which I believe will be released in December.

I honestly have very little interest in this particular sovereign. It's never been my play style. I guess that makes me evil...

 



Because of the Christmas holidays and the GalCiv III beta (due out at the same time) we're having to scale the # of new soveriegns in beta 3.  Not enough QA time available.

Brad, will there be a revised beta road map. For the December beta release you have earlier stated the following beta road map.

Milestone #2: BETA 2 [November 2014]

  1. Minor factions ally up with either you or the Sorcerer King based on what the player (or SK) does.
  2. Minor factions give player access to their unique units that cost 0 logistics
  3. Sorcerer King will begin casting spells into tactical battles
  4. Priest, Warrior, Guardian sovereign added
  5. Sovereign customization in
  6. Summoning Spellbook added
  7. Pretty Quest screen added

Milestone #3: BETA 3 [December 2014]

  1. HighDPI UI support (>2K/4K display enhancements)
  2. Warlord, Tinkerer sovereigns added
  3. Dungeon Master world system added (Everything you do in the game feeds data to the DM that may come back to help or hurt you later, variables will be listed in the Quest screen)
  4. Hall of Fame added
  5. In-Game status reports on how you’re doing in various interesting way
  6. Large map support added
  7. Random Map generation added

You stated that the priest would be the only new soverign in the December-beta. So do you have an estimate of the Warlord and Tinkerer. Besides Soverign customization and 'SK tactical spells' did not make it into the November-beta either.
