UI impressions and feature requests/changes

Hi

After playing Sorcerer King for a couple of hours, it is bugging me that the units all appears as single units in the list to the right. Would it be possible to collapse the units into armies and remove units in cities from the list or maybe hide them in some way. This way it provides a better overview of your active units, while passive units are hidden e.g. not cluttering the UI.

Please feel free to use this post as basis for comments regarding UI/interfaces.

The biggest UI issue to me is that some things are just way too small!

The unit medallions on the strategic map UI are TINY - it can be hard to make out on my monitor.

I agree, the buttons on the UI cards to the bottom left of the screen are usually a bit too small for comfortable clicking, also with the unit selector when a city is highlighted.

I'd like to suggest that squares or circles are much easier to target with a mouse than long, thin "pill" type buttons.  Mis-clicks should not have any part in determining the outcome of a strategy game.

Will it be possible to have a short-cut bar and keys to often used strategic spells e.g. raise land, pillar of fire etc. ?

I also want to add that the UI in the tactical map could an improvement.

For example the box with all the skills and items are way too messed right now. Skills and items are mixed together and it all depends on when you acquired the skill or the item.

I suggest dividing the box into skills and items as shown below.

Or you could dedice the first row to short cuts and rows below can just be a random mix of skills and items.

In general I just find it annoying that short cuts are assigned to items I dont generally use, whereas Lighting Storm I use most of the time compared to ham (4).

Another suggestion to the UI.

I want to suggest incorporating one or two short-cut button in menu-bar as shown below in red and green. This is especially useful when casting strategic spells as for example 'place road', 'heal' or 'pillar of flame' etc.

Edit: Really would love to see this change.

I want every unit to show up in the battle summary screen without the silly up/down scroll bar.  My army is only 9 units, make the whole summary screen bigger as the background is dimmed out anyway!

Thanks!

I can't see thimon's pics either, also missing in arctic terrain thread.

I use a photobucket account and the direct link with the tree icon above, I have had a lot of trouble trying other ways to do pics, myself.

The screenshots should now be available at Flickr now. Google Drive is not good at sharing pictures.

ITS WORKING (pic links)   Bur how did you get a road grid like that????

I was so tired of my allies blocking my path that I decided to use the 'Place road' spell. Without this spell I just think I would have dstroyed my allies instead.

The problem is as far as I can tell that the allied units cannot make a decent path / route around other units/cities. If a road continues through a city, the allied unit will just stop in front of the city without ever moving forward because the AI is too dumb to consider stepping aside for the Master (me).

Oh Dude, I thought it was a bug,  as soon as i read you did it laughed my ass off. I mean you really had to be pissed about thosa coobers parking on your roads    +  1* just for the entertainment value

I tried to let it be more funny than the usual bug report, while at the same time trying to get the message out. :)

My suggestions:

Get rid off city's along with their management, and have castles and strongholds that add attack and defense.  Somewhere to go when chased by a Superior force.

Get rid of wandering monster, keep them to random lairs, and instead have wandering opposing forces units out looking for you, or anyone not conforming.

Get rid of enchantment, keep it to the wonderful simplistic crafting system.

Get rid of shards, they are done to death.  Have something else like tree's of life.

Get rid of city unit recruiting, and have units wandering the land, or in towns looking for suitable employment.  Some bad, some good, some simply don't care.
