let's NOT talk about sex, baby

http://www.loserturdmafia.com/
sex is much, much too straightforward for we humans

reproductive organs are unique as far as organs go, in that they contribute nothing to our survival.

they are purpose built for reproduction and do not depend on pleasurable sensations, although they do afford some. there is no actual thing as "sexuality", and there are no "sex organs": no part of the body is designed solely for pleasurable purposes.

you could cite the clitoris, and say its' purpose is only pleasure. and whilst we technically COULD still have sex and reproduce without the clitoris (and its' associated pleasure), we probably wouldn't.

the sad fact is that sex is easy ... but it seems to be much easier if you have a brain the size of a walnut. animals lack the cognitive capacity to sully the reproductive act with a minefield of emotional bullshit. in matters sexual, the paradox of instinct versus conscience is solely a human one.

i'm not suggesting we emulate animals or abandon morality. our history all but proves that the human animal has little taste for self-policing ...

... just that "sexuality" doesn't really exist. it's a convenient umbrella word for all the stuff we do, a lot of it unknowingly, to procreate.

As soon as you start cherry picking particular human behaviors out of the mix the whole fragile house of cards begins to topple.

Sure, ultimately humans are just another type of large mammal. But we are also a lot different because we are driven far less by instincts than by social ordering. Humans are an immensely social animal.

Sex matters simply because humans emotionally ascribe so much to it. It doesn't matter whether at the end of the day it is just another exchange of bodily fluids because as a society we place importance on these matters.

my blunt presentation aside, that was sort of my point .. i thought ... we don't like to admit that we are propelled around by our genetic urge to reproduce and not some grand plan of OURS.

Ah ok.  Yea, I agree then.  We humans try to add our own meaning to things that are ultimately the result of genetics.

agreed brad and thanks ... i love the neat summation. you condensed the essence of my rambling to one sentence ... wish i could do that :)

LoL... I like being a male... it's fun.

I love women -n- all, but let's face it, you can't trust something that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die... hehehe

i think the brain is used for other stuff, too. ;)

The label that reads:

"This brain to be used for..."

followed by a list of several thousand things ending in "do not remove tag".

I pulled that off.

... i said no part of the body was designed SOLELY for pleasure. one function of the brain is pleasure, but, as you yourself say in your post above, it has many more.

so ... are you agreeing with me then ? ;)

mignuna you seem to exhibit syptoms of someone that is inept when it comes to "sexuality" even if there is no grander scheme of things and we are nothing more than the product of our genetics why should we not embrace sexuality and not marriage and stability. If you believe in what you say than marriage should also be on your "hate" list among anything else that humans associate with pleasure. I bet you don't like watching movies spending time with family and listening to music either. If you do than it is hypocritical of you to think the way you do.

ok. i stopped laughing long enough to compose a reply. as usual, you have read one article and now you know it all. if you read some of my other articles (such as the very pertinent "i got married, why ?") you may find that accusing me of being a hypocrite is just, well, hypocritical of you.

as for what you "bet" i do and don't like ... well, you're mostly wrong .. again ... but you forgot to add the one thing i really hate doing: wasting my trying to make points to people who have closed minds.

i don't comment much in other peoples' blogs. but at least i when i do i have enough respect to at least be reasonable ... lucid, even. and i never assume to know a great deal personally about remote strangers. omnipotence is just that bit beyond me.

my advice to you psychx: making an unkind and public judgement on someone you don't know and have never met is just asking to be taken the wrong way. do it again by all means, but please don't do it in here. thanks. mignuna.
