I'm having problems with the game crashing or shutting my laptop off. No error log just shuts my computer off after a while. I've played the game in the past (months ago) and never had any problems. Would like to play the game again after reading AoW reviews and deciding FELE is a better game. Seems like my laptop runs hot... could this shut my system off. Never had problems before... is there a setting that I've forgot to apply that I've had set before.

Wild shot in the dark here but this could be your video card overheating. Laptop forcing shutdowns to avoid critical failures?

LH is very graphic intensive...took out my card (though in my defense, my card was 6 years old)

Shot in the dark suggestions (re: hot graphics card).  Place lap top edges on top of two books, boxes, whatever, to create increased air flow under the lap top.  Might be just enough to help.  It worked for me when playing civ 4 FfH2 on my lap top.

Computers do shutdown at certain temperatures to prevent melting down.

Laptop might be dusty.  Could be time to clean it out. 

What framerate is the game running at?  You might have vsync disabled or something, letting it run at 100+ FPS.  If turning vsync on doesn't help, you might try a framerate limiter.  Turning the graphics settings down would also help with that (although there's not much to turn down in this game).  I've also got a mod somewhere that reduces the amount of detail in the overworld tiles so there's less to render (there's a lot of unnecessary detail).
