For the love of pete, fix the basic stuff!

1) Fix the damned crash on screensaver/lock screen.

2) Fix the units-don't-finish bug when loading autosaves.

3) What is the _point_ of the 3d terrain?  On the large battle map it is so freaking hard to click on the correct square/enemy because the "invisible" edge of a hill or tree is in the way.  Make the battles flat, make the icon a crosshairs on the exact spot that is "active" so I can stop seeing the "this action must hit an enemy unit" message.

4) If I promise never to use the very left edge of the map to zoom in/out, will you make the tiny spaces between unit/city/quest icons part of the scrolling area?

5) Pathfinding.  FFS, if it says 2 turns to get there, get there in 2 turns, not 4.  Territory that isn't mine is not full of scary ghosts - you can pathfind through it instead of around it.

And for *(^^ sake, give me access to the main menu from any screen, no matter what popups are in place.

There's plenty of bugs - if I play long enough the water still disappears, *(^( like that, but these are the ones that really just piss me off in a game I really like.

Yeah, I've been waiting for these kinds of things to get fixed before I start playing again.  Particularly 2 and 5.  I made a list a long time ago of things that needed to be fixed, but I've kind of given up on it, and this game because of them.  I really like the game, but the bugs can be too frustrating.  I've lost games to bugs.

Little sad but true story here:

I was just speaking to a friend yesterday this kind of thing. He never posts and isn't interested in the threads at all. He's interested in playing the game. He found LH on a steam sale and really enjoys it, but these types of small inconsistencies, bugs and annoying behaviours just gets to him. He doesn't care to report these things to SD and he's not about to put up with them. He tells me he'll just buy from elsewhere next time as "it doesn't matter what 4x game I play" and has since shelved the game. I convinced him to try it again when 1.6 is released.....but that's just 1 person I've convinced. I'm sure there are 1000's out there that are just like him....they don't care enough to send input in and are unwilling to wait. They will just spend their money elsewhere...

For pathing, I don't think the game takes into account if you have the scout trait, it will still take you around hills, swamps and forests if that would otherwise be the fastest route. But yes, sadly it seems you have to move your units, that's rarely an issue for me as I mostly just have 2-3 armies running around.

Oh yes, there's TONS of other bugs, just like any game.  Don't get me wrong, I love this game.  The stuff I mentioned is the stuff that makes me crazy during a game - watching my army start marching around an ocean rather than cross one square of not-mine territory, loading a saved game (especially early) and not getting a pioneer, answering the phone and coming back to a DirectX error.

As an aside, I absolutely hate the Night of Haunted Dreams quest.  Killing all those skeletons is a PITA.  Could someone lay out a for-dummies on how to make that event _NEVER_ happen?  I know almost nothing about modding.  All I want to do is basically comment it out of existence.

While it is annoying that the pathing will avoid AI territory at all costs (except when building roads), I find it more annoying when it paths 5-10 tiles more than it has to through neutral/my territory.  Like, I'm next to a lake, and I've got a straight path with nothing in the way to a tile 3 spaces away, and the pathing AI routes my troops all the way around the lake instead.  I am not exaggerating.  I had to get in the habbit of never utilizing the pathfinding, which is annoying because the UI was designed exclusively for it.  Why can't we at least have the numpad move units 1 tile at a time?  If I have to circumvent bad pathing, at least make it less annoying.

Also, I don't think it matters whether you have Master Scouts or not, because it often doesn't choose the best terrain to path through.  I've had it choose hills over plains when neither was the quicker route and I didn't have Master Scouts.  You really can't trust it to move you 2 tiles away properly.

There are other problems with loading autosaves besides units/buildings being canceled for no reason.  They said they fixed the autosave problems a while ago, but I don't know what autosave problems they thought they were fixing because all of the ones I've ever encountered are still there.  I got in the habit of quicksaving at the beginning of every turn because autosave was so unreliable.  You don't know what's going to change if you load an autosave.  The only reason I even leave them on is in case I forget to quicksave.

Here's one related to pathfinding I'd like to see fixed:

Scouts and other units set to explore mode should automatically avoid monsters instead of walking right into them.

If the unit can't get around a monster, it should stop, and the player should be alerted.

And that's why I never automate scout my units unless I want them to go away, they will get eaten.

I'm still holding off playing due to the wandering bosses leaving their territory bug that was supposed to be fixed already but I've seen some more bug reports that are saying it isn't fixed.   Maybe 1.6 will do it I guess...

Deleting the quest never did work.  Don't know where it was drawing the information; still hate Night of Haunted Dreams Quest!

1) None

2) multiple times + reinstall

3) yes, many times

Yes, of course it would.  Accounted for it and re-edited each time.

Yet another developer that doesn't finish their games.  It's becoming the norm these days.

Hmm, I will give that a try.  It may have been auto "repairing" my adjustments.  I did try at one point changing the triggertype to 10000 but that didn't help either.

By the way, despite my impatient tone, I really appreciate your efforts.

I won't call it a bug, but the existing pathfinding is not working the way it's intended to work.

- I still occasionally have my unit move one less tile than what the pathfinding said I could move. REALLY annoying.

- I still have my units move around AI ZoC when it should move through. REALLY annoying. OR at the very least, when the movement reaches the AI ZofC it should cancel (and not lose) the rest of the movement points so that you can manually confirm the direction you wish to travel.

- Exiting cities can still be frustrating. Units should preference road tiles over non-road tiles.
