[1.4 + Dead World DLC][Suggestion] Cities aren't undead
I think the Undead cities should be run by Undead
Instead of Trogs.
*edit* Think dead smily is more appropriate

Seriously? I was gonna buy this dlc but not anymore ![]()
It's now postponed until they have cities not run by trogs !
Really?!? I hope your trolling lol.
N/A
He's probably telling the truth, after all, the screenshots of dead world dlc suspiciously declined to show a screenshot of what undead city would look like ![]()
Bought the dlc, yeah they're yithril cities, after all i see the horses and war boars in the city lol.

Oh and the undead will be hit by that plague event too ![]()
And I have a Kraxis hero working for Undead city that gained the ability to feed. <_<
Edit: Even more bugs discovered.
-Yithril Cities for Undead race.
-Recruited heroes can use feed and elegy abilites even when they're not undead.
-Undead scouts can't scout and only can move 1 tile a turn in rough terrain.
That's all for now. Undead dlc is quite messed up lol
Yep, some fixes are needed for the Dead faction. I also note that Piers and other water buildings do mostly nothing for the Dead faction. They should at least do something or else drop them from the build queue. In my first game as the Dead faction, I couldn't find any mobs to kill to raise my population, that was also a pain.
How do you make city number 2 to x to grow. If you raze something then your capital gets a boost. Will there ever be enough humanoids around to make your other cities grow?
Oh dear.Sounds rushed.
There are growth modifiers (tower of dominion) and spells to help with the growth. Depending on the death shards you fine this faction could be best fastest growing faction after the early game. It takes a new way of thinking for the early game though.
-Recruited heroes can use feed and elegy abilites even when they're not undead.
This is a faction ability not a blood ability.
The DLC is worth it. The undead feel like undead instead of living cities that look like skeletons in other games.
I thought that tower of dominion and such didnt work for the dead. How does death shards help?
I noticed that the units file for the Undead faction, when downloaded from Steam, had an "a" as first letter before it's proper name. It's possible that that error caused another faction to be used, a bit like what happens when you use mods that add other factions and also use CoS, without full support for those other mods. If other references go to its proper name, then the error would prevent normal working of the DLC as it would not find the Undead units. I renamed before I started and my undead towns properly use undead and the undead rules.
Undead cities don't have any natural growth, but any growth bonuses still work, up to the Grave Limit. So this means Tower of Dominion (+1) and the Forgetting special building (+3) work, and even Sovereign's Call (+2 Growth) should work if you happen to get a champion with Life Magic. There is a special city spell that gives any city that has it +1 Growth for each Death Shard that you have in your empire, but I'm not sure if you actually have to have it built - I had a Death Shard and it got razed by wandering monsters, and when it was rebuilding I still got the bonus. Maybe it has that old bug that prevented other spells from updating the next turn, which has been fixed for all the core spells.
Btw: can Stardock, can you remove Kingdom as an option for the Undead faction? The way it is portrayed in the game, as well as the way it is normally portrayed, prohibits Undead from ever being a "Good" faction (except in Age of Wonders 3 hehe). And the Morrigan spell is useless if you are Kingdom. Basically, in this game, Undead are Evil.
Mausoleums also seem really empty. They need more decoration around the building itself. Less then half the tile is used for anything. Throw in some graves or something.
The Undead faction ability is just a tweaked version of Slave Lords, and that ability was always really hard to use. That's why they removed the growth penalty from it. In fact Undead really needs it's own icon. Right now it uses the Slave Lord one.
Yep this - just noticed the same thing.
There is a city enchantment that will add 1 population per death shard.
Yes tower of dominion does work. It adds 1 flat growth bonus not food bonus.
Hehe don't do that. I wanted to recreate the Archon faction from AOW.
I'ts the morrigan's call, it adds 1 undead to the city depending on how much death shards u control.
Only your first city will grow the fastest and all other cities will grow pretty slow.. at least until you got enough death shards rolling
And, Undead faction is the first faction that I felt like I needed to choose Conclave as my first city. Haunted Army was actually a huge part of my strategy lol.
And amusingly enough, i found a dog token which summoned a dog pet for me.. and it was major source of dps for my opening stages <_<
I'm sad that my undead faction don't have undead cities but instead using yithril cities and yithril outposts as graphics but when your cities get attacked by the enemy the milita will be Resoln milita. -.-
The only undead graphics for building is the graves and that's it.
This is disappointing. I have come to expect better of Stardock. If these 4.99 DLCs don't start to improve I will no longer be purchasing these to support Stardock. The new maps were good and the quest pack was okay. The loot pack felt like a cheap cash in. When I saw this one I was I was excited but.. the city is not even by the Undead?? Ridiculous. I'll hold off for a patch if they decide to improve it I will go for it, but as of now.. nope.
The city-style is the same as all of the Empires, so I don't really understand what the gripe is there. The militia being Resoln is definitely a bug.
The way I've been growing my cities is to go to war with basically all factions and let them come at you. Fielding an army with The Dead is not a problem because trained units don't have upkeep costs.
It kinda seems like The Dead need access to the Corruption spell somehow to help with growth - maybe they could get it from the Magic tech tree somewhere up the line?
Yep it works the same way as all other races in the game. If you create a Kingdom of the Dead you will have human peasants. My original post was not to bash Stardock in saying this is broken. It was a "it would be nice if we can have this"
This can be done, and I know of a way to accomplish this, but I do not have the DLC to create this, nor do I believe that Stardock would allow this distribution, of course I can probably create a weak version with the base LH version. Animations would be a little off since I'm not skilled in that area (I'd have to learn it)
But if you meet Vergas for the first time as Morrigan you will get to hear his comments about the fact that everyone in your cities is skeletons.
And comments from Capitar about everyone being dead.
Plus if you read the flavor text of Morrigan it will mention that Caleb city is the buried city where Morrigan and her Risen emerged from.
And you do not expect Resoln militia to defend the undead cities ![]()
Everything I have read ingame basically point to undead cities being ehm, full of undeads not trogs ![]()
Shopkeeper is a skeleton.
Magic Shop is a banshee.
I fought a matron which was part of the hellknight army defending a ruined fort..... and her attack power was 0 so she couldn't do anything.
Feed/Elegy abilites being available to still breathing and alive heroes I dunno elegy but uh feed... They fed on bones of my undead army to stay alive. Faction ability sure, then how come my Gilden heroes that recruit heroes from Mancer race and etc don't have Guarded Strike then?
Plenty of undead troops from morrigan sadly have no flavor text but you can see most of the flavor text if you can find a hellknight army in the world.
If you get access to horses and check it out in the shop, it will be shown as undead horse. But horses and warboars in Undead err Yithril run undead cities is shown as still alive.
I think Stardock went oh shit, todays' halloween quick release it even when we not done yet!
The fact that Morrigan the risen is a empire faction simply doesn't excuse it from it's cities being run by trogs.
I can see why Kingdom people will look similar.. well duh? ![]()
But Empires.. they require tad bit more work on graphic art otherwise it'll get really annoying just looking at them, no wonder why I raze every single empire city I capture.. its just that I never realized it until I tried to play as undeads. Lots of Empires look different from each other.
What I do to empire cities most of the time when I capture one, even when it's a level 5 with every improvement built. I rushbuy a pioneer then raze the empire city to the ground and build a kingdom city on same tile if I liked the location with kingdom pioneer even when it came from a empire city that got razed.
