[1.4? STEAM problem]

Hi i recently purchased FE:LH on steam, i opted in for the 1.4 beta but i noticed an annoying problem:

when i exit from FE:LH the steam client seem to not be aware of it and continue to think i'm playing the game. this makes impossible to close the steam client (it asks me to exit from FE:LH that obviously is not running) and, if i dont run the game directly from the .exe it doesnt let me start it again as it thinks the game is alredy running

i did check the process and it seem to be down (no LH.exe around), as said it seem to be just steam that doesnt know when the game closes.

i tried to do the file check from steam and everything seem ok, i also tried to disable the community interface and the steam cloud but with no luck

i thought to bring up the problem here as i didnt have this issue with any other steam games also i dont know if is a problem related to the 1.4 beta or not (i installed the beta almost immediatly)

LH often takes a while to close down completely, especially if you have been playing a long session.  Leave it for a while, and then shut Steam down.  Also check in Task Manager or equivalent to make sure that the program has been closed (if you have waited 10 minutes and it still gives the error).

i'm quite sure the problam is closed as i dont see it in the task manager and i did await a huge amount of time to see if the steam client noticed i was not anymore in game, i did even try to just load FH, create a new game, play 2-3 turns thern exit (checking on the task manager that FE was not running anymore) and play some other steam game for a fair amount of time to see if maybe it fixed the issue but nothing, even while i'm playing the other game the steam client thinks i'm still inside FE.

i also tried to reinstal the game but it didnt help, also it seem i cant opt out from the beta so even reainstalling i cant check if is an 1.4 issue or a general FE problem as it directly download the 1.4 beta version.

update... i found where is the problem

when i run FE it open a window process conime.exe *32 (i'm on vista 64) and when i close the game the process stay up. as long as it is up the steam client thinks i'm still running FE, killing the process fixes the problem and the steam client works normally again.

i did check other steam games and no one else run this process, to be sure i did also scan the conime.exe file with kaspersky and it didnt report anything.

so it seem to be a FE problem that open this process and for some reason the process stay up even when the game is not running anymore causing the steam client issue.

I've noticed that my disk activity light is very active for some time after exiting the game.

Thanks for the fix, I was having the same problem ( on vista 32 though ) and searching for an answer. When the proces ended, Steam proceeded synchronising LH. ( at least for me )

Strange so few apparantly having this problem? Wouldn't expect that.

was so used to 'this problem' i always tried to remember to start windows task manager before starting Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes in order to close steam

after reply #3 by isidiel decided to see if i could spot conime.exe in the process tab of task manager

conime.exe was not present after login  or after start steam, but appeared after launch of FE:LH

closing conime.exe also appeared to work for me also

tried opening a windows command prompt (cmd.exe)  it also loaded conime.exe to help it

after after typing exit to leave the command window and did not disturb the conime it opened

tried running steam then FE:LH

then click on exit in the menu

after that for some reason steam seems to be no longer bothered about conime

(ie steam does not think FE:LH is still running after exiting from FE:LH's main menu)
