Upgradeable Equipment

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was ever going to be support for being able to change your unit's equipment? To put a finer point on it, say I create a spearmen unit with the traits I want but before I can make trinkets and rings etc. At present there is no way I can find to upgrade that same spearmen later to be able to use trinkets and rings. The option is just out for that unit.

I can see not being able to upgrade or change traits for a unit as those should be set in stone at creation but just equipment? That should be totally modular and, if I have the spare Gildar laying around, I should be able to change to whatever equipment any other troop I create can use. I don't see why I couldn't change it to an axe when I tech to those although that may have game balance issues but just adding rings and belts?

If I could I would always ensure that my lord have a restoration ring every game. xD And compassion magic from Mage trait tree. Le sigh lol

And have control of like 10 life shards. Yummers.

It would indeed be nice to be able to add trinkets to your units after they have been trained. I'm against changing weapon type though: after all, those soldiers were trained to use a specific weapon type.

I think good games are based on hard player choices. The hard choices are what makes a game interesting, it's up to you to decide which way to take. If there are no choices, then the game gets IMHO less interesting and challenging.

With this said, upgradeable units could be good if it was a difficult decision to make. If it was so expensive that 50% of players opted not to upgrade and the other half did - that would be good. But upgradeable units that players always would upgrade is IMHO not good.

So I don't want options that take away the difficulties of your choices. If you can back out from a choice,  it's not a real choice. If you always will do an upgrade, it's not a choice.

Upgrading is already extremely expensive compared to production time so that oftentimes its much better to dismiss the old ones(or station them somewhere for defense) and simply train new ones with better equipment, perks and fortress boni.

I remember seeing the cost for upgrading a 5 man stack of dudes to plate armor costing thousands of gold, while i could train identical guys in 3 seasons.

Its already expensive, the faction I play costs 238 gold if I wanna upgrade leather to light plate armor for 4 men in a single unit.

I usually bite the bullet if such a unit is level 5 and up unless its an reserve army then it can make do with leather for longer. Then for that final Golem armor,, i believe its about 500g total if you wanna upgrade from leather to there while only having 4 men.

Obviously its a nobrainer to upgrade the guys in your main army first. Everything can't be always hard decision.

And upgrading from spears to boar spears and to pikes is another no brainer decision. It must be done if you want to have ease in combat instead of plinking away at enemy units for 1 damage.
