AI "Team" not teamworking

There is an option in game setup to have AIs belong to "teams". I'm not sure if this is WAD, since the respective AIs do not treat each other as such. While I cannot speculate as to how often they trade resources with one another freely, I can see that it is quite easy to wage war against one team member and have pleasant relations with the other. This, at least, in my opinion should not be possible.

yeah they are not a team if you can war one and peace the other.  Where's the united front?

I thought Teams created in Game Setup acted as Allies from the start of the game?  I guess faction relations are on a "per civ" rather than "per alliance" basis.

They aren't really allied if they don't protect each other.  What benefit do they have from being on the same team?   Will they declare war on each other?   Maybe that's it they won't do that but it doesn't seem like they help each other or anything.

It's not even really AI, just game rules.

Somewhere in the code there is a section for what happens when War is Declared.  What's missing in there is an If statement.  If you get declared war upon, then all your allies go to war as well.  Then it's up to the War AI to prioritize making military units, make battle plans, etc etc etc, one would hope.
