Why do my trained units have little "haste"-circles under them?

I seem to find, in all battles starting now, that my trained units have those concentric rings under their feet which, normally, represent that the spell "haste" has been cast on them. Yet I haven't cast that spell, and I'm pretty sure my Champion doesn't have a special ability which grants it. Sometimes I see this under some of my champions as well, but not always.

Oddly enough, I may cast "haste" on any unit which already has these haste-like circles, and I get the feedback that they are hasted (and after which the spell haste cannot be cast on them again).

Any idea why they have these quasi-"hasted" graphics without being truly hasted?

Pariden units have those circles because of the soul spark ability

Actually, it is because of Pariden's passive ability.

The circles means the units are boosted because of Pariden's blood ability.

correct, the actual name for that is noble legacy, you can see it in the enchantments tab of pariden units in combat.

Odd, that I do not *always* see these circles, only sometimes.

does it depend on whether you control any fire shards or not?  I believe Amarians get the initiative boost from fire shards.
