[1.3B] AI Not Using Tactical Summons?

In none of the games I have played recently has the AI used tactical summons. While working on a mod I gave several units summoning abilities and it never uses them regardless of priority. Has anyone else seen the AI use tactical summons? If not then this needs to be addressed.

I don't think I've ever seen the AI use tactical summons.

Supposedly, Brad suggested that the AI uses tactical summons, but I'm with Heavenfall I have yet to see the AI use any tactical summons.

Good post, was starting to wonder if it was just me.

I've been doing a bunch of testing on this last few days working on my mod... and i've also not seen the AI use a tactical summons.

I just created a test case... created some units that have no attack whatsoever... but have the DemonicAlly ability (summon assassin demon).... went into battle again 6 of them... and they all just stand there.  I tried increasing the AIPriority up to 7000 and still nothing.  They don't summon any help, just stand there.

I know that a mod but i'm sure that the behavior would be no different unmodded.

Brad/Derek - can someone pls take a look at this?

I've never seen it either. I suppose it's too difficult for the AI to decide when to use which summon?

The monsters like Ritualists or whatever have an incentive to use summons though (only cost casting time) - even if it's harder to program for the AI players.

Just throwing in my "I've also never seen AI summon monsters" anecdote.

I've been tested a heap of abilities/spells and it looks to me like the AI struggles with a few other abilities too.  I'd be interested to know if anyone has seen the AI use Lightning Form or Thunder Strike either, because I can't seem to get the AI to use them.

 Edit -> Fixed typo.

Do you mean thunder strike vs. lightning strike?

Yes good spot thanks.  (edited my post).

I could have sworn i've seen Crow Demons use that against me in the past.... however with me recent testing I can't get them to do it.  I'm starting to wonder if the AI has problems with spells that target an empty tile.

End of abob101's quote

Back in the just plain FE I thought I saw the same thing once but I could be wrong. Same deal with summon Fire Elemental. However it was so long ago I may be making this up.

As a lower level player barely handling the tactical battle as is, I shudder in fear at the possibility of actual enemy summons.  Yikes!  But, yeah, there have been no summons in any of my games either and that doesn't feel right now that you mention it.

Never seen the AI summon anything either.  Now that you mention it, I never really thought about it before but it is obvious this is missing.

The battle against the trog guy in the Arena of Shakalathman would get a lot more difficult if he actually used his Summon Slag ability.

No reply from Stardock on this... that is a bit weird.

Haven't seen the ai use tactical summons either, haven't played with the non beta 1.3 but im guessing this is still missing?, if so it would be nice to see this addressed because it would certainly give the ai a new powerful weapon to use.

Same here... never saw this happen.  Which is a shame.

What say you, Stardock?

Bump.

Hoping we can get some feedback from Stardock on this one.  Bit of a bummer having all those nice tactical effects for summons if the poor old AI isn't using any off them :-(

@Kael - any chance someone can take a look a this?
