Where are these traits coming from?


I'm experimenting around in 1.2 playing a large map with 6 opponents, one of whom is Tarth, who promptly declared war on me. All of its units seem to have a bunch of traits I have never seen on trained units before (unique icons): regeneration, greatly improved dodge, improved attack vs. champions, etc. None of the other opponents seem to have these "extra" traits. What am I not understanding?

you have set the AI difficulty on higher than challenging. AI sovereigns and troops get escalating bonuses in form of extra traits depending on difficulty level to improve their combat abilities.

What Phazonfreak said. Sometimes, when you randomize opponents, they'll have different AI levels. Apparently, Tarth is a higher level than the others in your game, gaining them some bonus traits.

You probably already know this, but units can also get some traits from the city (Fortress) they are trained in. This even applies to non-standard troops like elementals.

OK thanks. I've never seen Executioner before, and I was confused because it doesnt seem like these traits are on any of the other opponents so far.
