I don't like 'Maps' add-on

I enjoyed experience and bought Quests add-on , Liked it too .

So I naively decided to buy Maps add-on and it spoiled the game:now cities can be built everywhere .creating a never -ending megapolis and the game turned into  Civ City something . The feelings of struggle ,fight for survival ,achieving victory- all has been lost to dull ,monotonous settle-build cycle .

Of course there is no way to remove that add-on ?

Which map are you playing on that has so many settle-able spots?

Try the Wildlands or Tree of Life maps, it sounds like they might be closer to what you are looking for.

Dustbowl is also a great map, settle-able spots are not too common, and the high seas hold secrets.

Yes I feel like there are too many fertile locations in random maps also and that the desert option might be too extreme a soloution

There is some strange stuff going on with ZoC, and Bloom of Twilight not working properly. Essentially with big ZoC you are guaranteed settling spots after a while next to your original city, while BoT that should do it at a cost, does not work. I think it has been like this since 1.2, but not sure.

(Just for reference, My Huge custom map, by then end I had 60 cities.. on Desert tileset, something is very wrong with that)

Would be nice if there were a map option for how settle-able a random map is, which would be a modifier for map type.

I would argue that it's not the "Maps" add-on that is causing this.  There are too many "settle-able" spots and new cities are allowed to be too close together in the regular game.  They should really tune this back one notch (or one tile as the case may be).
