Question regarding Maps that were present during pre-purchase beta.

Hi guys

I've been rather busy and missed the release of the game, I did however play something like 60 hours during the pre-purchase beta.

I had gotten used to looking forward to patches and updates throughout the beta, so was happy to see a fairly substantial one waiting for me in steam on my return.

I fired the game up, went to start a new game and... All of the good maps were missing!?

Off to google I went, where I discovered that there was a now a map pack available for purchase containing the only maps I had come to enjoy during my extended play-time with the beta.

I could only come to one conclusion but the picture I've formed sits rather uncomfortably with me, as it would seriously impact my willingness to ever pre-purchase from stardock in future.

The following question frames the only conclusion I have been able to come to, and I'd really like it if someone was able to explain to me that I had gotten the wrong idea.

Have Stardock elected to "reward" pre-purchasers like myself by removing the (arguably better) maps we'd grown accustomed to from the released game and then added insult to injury by charging us a separate and additional DLC cost if we wish to get access to them again!?

Tell me it ain't so!

With thanks from a long time stardock customer.

GenuineEntropy.

Try going to stardock.com, logging in with your Stardock account, and review your downloads.  You might see a "Fallen Enchantress Map Pack DLC".  If you do, simply copy the serial number to your clipboard, go to Steam, and activate it.  It will then download.

In regards to the maps you've grown to love during the beta were given actually in error on Stardocks part. They didn't intend to release the map pack for free. It was not malice on their part, it was an error that they actually only caught at the very end of the beta process (due to one of my reports). Otherwise they would have fixed that problem in the beginning of the beta.

If you purchased the Map DLC in FE you will have it for LH via Publius of NV method. Otherwise it is a separate purchase, on top of the pre-gen maps there are some map stamps for your random map generation.

That's certainly a detailed explanation parrotmath, thanks.

I do own several stardock games, but only came to FE when I pre-purchased FE LH, so can't get the maps back that way.

I appreciate that the maps may have been given out in error during the beta, but given that I had come to consider them a fundamental part of the game I can't help but to feel somewhat 'nickel and dimmed'.

It's not the cost so much as the principle - I may pay to access those maps again and I may even pay for early access to stardock content again, but I certainly won't do either without long consideration.

Thanks to you too for the reply Publius.

Yeah the map pack was first offered as DLC after FE was released.  We were getting it all set for LH (part of which was making sure anyone who bought it for FE would get it for free for LH) when a steam issue caused it to be given out to everyone.  That's our mistake and came as quite a shock when we realized it (since we were testing it we always had it, but we didn't know players did).

Derek - I had bought the map pack from Stardock as part of FE before you went to Steam with LH.  I read that you were going to make sure people who did that got the LH version on Steam for free.  So I went to my Stardock account last night & followed the instructions to activate on Steam, but the maps don't show up.  Steam says I have the DLC activated when I try to activate a second time but the maps don't show up even when I shut Steam down & restart.  Anyone have any tips on how to get them to appear?

Forget previous post - the maps appeared tonite.  Steam just needed some time to process my request.

I also bought the Quest Pack so I'll start a new game!  Love what you guys have done with this game.
