[Bug 1.0] Conquered enemy city - city has 0 grain/materials/essence

I encountered a bug where I conquered an enemy city, and the city has 0 grain, 0 materials, and 0 essence.  The only solution I could find is to raze the city and re-build another one where it stood.

I saw this before too. But i think the "bug", is more the AI building cities where ever it feels like, so the city was in fact, a 0/0/0. I say this, as I saw the AI found cities (multiple times) on locations that I knew were empty.

Hmm, I've got a case of a just-captured city with *more* resources than it should have, a total of 11 (city of Imperium, just captured from Yithril, who had earlier captured it from Magnar.  City details window says tile yields: 2 essence, 3 materials, and 6 grain).  Lacking other information, I would guess that this is caused by the same underlying bug, where tile yields are somehow getting changed after cities are built.

End of ArisianOne's quote

The extra grain and production could be any wild grains and clay mines/lumber mills that are attached to your city.

Plus, the AI does get bonuses to their cities, so I think that's intentional.

If it says "base grain/production" etc. than that is the amount without including external sites.  I think sometimes the AI's cities are modified to be better, and can exceed a total of 9 (which normally is not possible within the vanilla game).

Just confirming this is still present in v1.1; I've found both towns with more than 9 total base resources, and towns with 0 base resources in a new game started in v1.1

the towns with more than 9 are usually AI capitals. they seem to get bonus grain/material on higher levels of difficulty. in fact, i don't think i ever saw an AI capital with less than 5/3/2 on "hard" or above.

I started a new game last night... my best tile was 4/4/0 in a forest tile, my closest neighbor got a forest 5/5/2-3 (custom faction, can't remember if she has scrying pool faction trait).

I've seen this as well in my current game.  My game was started in v1.0, but I hadn't taken the city until after the upgrade.  Also, I don't see it listed as fixed in the v1.1 changelog, so it's fairly safe to assume it hasn't been fixed.
