When using a custom faction with the "Defensive" trait, the basic one-handed "short" spears do not appear (and so can not be bought by heroes) in the shop/trade window. The spears do appear in the unit-design window, so trained units can have them, just not heroes.
It's the same with warclub for greathammers faction trait, but also, i can't seem to buy a shortspear playing as karavox either.
Wondering what the deal is here. Is this a bug or intentional?
Also, im running the latest version at the time of post.
edit afterthoughts: Seems like nothing anyone gets starts in the shop? Surely if its intentional it's because its considered overpowered... But surely theres a point pretty soon where it's not and they should appear? I'd guess not being able to buy a poison vial when you have assassins tools as one of your TWO faction traits it must be a bug. Huge disadvantage when you could have something you can use.
I think it's just a lazy oversight. I once asked Derek about having the specialized weaponry available on the sovereign selection screen when you choose a faction trait like you mentioned and he basically told me to go take a flying flip at a rolling donut. So good luck with this one!
Still, it is a reasonable request to allow the special equipment to be bought by heroes, even if it can't start with the Sov.
