From most recent play through:  (a) Boats still don’t work.  (b) May begin build of overlord forge after destroying witch tower several turns earlier – forge-overlord victory was off. (b) Several 1-3 square sized islands have goodie huts but all cliffs, no coast to allow player to access land. (c) Several heroes (from old system) still appear on map.  “Local AI Test Leader’s Army,” [weak, 2-28-10-51], banner read “Learn Beorn’s Letters to recruit level 9 heroes.” Even after learning said tech, still unable to recruit, or interact with this army in any way - Cannot attack, etc.  Found a lone hero of same sort from other side, it was attack-able. Hope this helps.

I miss boats and would like maps where there use is a strategic advantage.

Any time I run into a dock I got a ship which I could send to explore (or embark my party on it). Was able to send pioneers to a small island to create an outpost to grab 2 resources.

What precisely doesn't work with your boats? (not saying my boats are better than yours! maybe your kingdom / empire has an "Afraid of water" penalty which prevents them from ummm "coughs" use the boats? :D).

Many times, not always, the boat won't carry troops. It will, when placed next to land troops, allow them to move into a sea space. Then move the boat, one square, rinse and reprat. And hop you have cloud walk to get back... its a slow, clickfest trip.

I wish boats and islands would appear in random maps...that'd be so swell, I'd spit out my soft drink.

What map are you playing on?  Having never played any of the loadable maps, I have no idea which one you're talking about, and I'm sure the devs would find that info useful as well.

I have yet to encounter your bug, my ships sail where I tell them to and they carry any troops I give them.

Then again I'm not your typical Kingdom leader, soft and kind, so my ships would think twice before refusing to embark or transport my troops hehe :)

Yes, I suppose my troops have an allergy to boats.... LOL. I play on pre made maps, mostly. never thought the boats appear on a random map. They do? Cool.

I have never encountered a boat on a random map, thought they were only on the pre-mades.
