So why do we have to restart our computers every time after installing new versions?
Can you not just have the installer stop and restart the Service, or is it something more than that?
The right click shell extension dlls used for adding "Pin to start8" are loaded by explorer and there is no way to consistently replace them without a reboot. The other dlls are sometimes left in memory by Windows too.
