[Balance] Fame + Heroes

In my current game I reached something like 1600 Fame to unlock my next Hero and it looks like the magical Hero slider went from the greatest Heroes back to the first group you can select from. I even chose Hannis, a hero I had already recruited. I'm not sure how the system works in general so I can't propose any amazing solutions. Unless you have the faction trait for quest maps you will have a very difficult time babysitting low level heroes during battles as the AI is smart enough to pick out the weakest members of your party (or at the very least randomly picking them occasionally) and OHKO them with a ranged weapon/spell/ability.

Perhaps as a way to rework the system so that you don't ever loop over back into weak heroes is to have the level of heroes you acquire through fame equal your sovereign's level. I realize this could potentially be abused by using tricks to over level your sovereign perhaps, but there are plenty of such tricks in complex single player games like this already.

This has been noted before and needs a fix.

The other thing that has been suggested is that the Fame levels you need to get a hero spread out a bit. I agree with this, since I tend to find I have too many useless heroes that can do very little, given that I have not got the troops needed to get them out fighting. Unlocking a new hero should be something I strive to do, at the moment it just happens quite easily.

I may change the fame levels.  But first I've adjusted all the fame from quests.  They all used to give 15 fame (30 for altar).  Now the amount of fame returned depends on the quest.  Some don't give any (those are the sorts of quests that aren't really quests, but events).  But the base ones give 10 (escorting the noblemans daughter) and the hardest can give as much as 30.

So we will test that out and see how champion progression works.  if they are still coming to quick they i will adjust the levels.

I've noted this before, but a way to cut down the progression, and also make a good "guns vs. butter" choice here is to allow us to spend fame to add experience points to heroes.  Making it a consumable resource means either a lot of low level heroes, or a few high level heroes.  It also solves the problem of hero leveling, and getting to the end of the trait trees.

I would like to support Winnihym idea. It seems good.

Even though technically you don't get less know across the world when your champions level up, so thats a minor point.

Maybe one could make Experience gain global meaning any experience earned by anyone will apply to everybody. That means commanders sitting in a city will level up as well as everyone else. And your sovereign will be always on top. Because he was the first hero.

(That would definately mean that Tutelage would be OP but that could be reworked.)

I'm just throwing this out here.

Does the AI take Fame into account for diplomatic relations? I can see it happening indirectly in that when you get a new hero, it increases your power, which does have an impact, but sheer amount of fame should carry some weight, too (if it doesn't).

Derek- make sure it lists the amount of Fame you'll gain from the quest in the rewards section (again, if it doesn't already).
