Unable to upgrade armor past leather or have it select it(V.80)

Was playing a game and discovered chain mail, so happily i went to my units to upgrade them.....and nothing.  NO option to upgrade them, even though i had created the units with the ability to upgrade to the best available.  So, I went to create a unit with chain mail and decided ill have it use the best available(chain mail) and upgrade when available Echa time it would select the lowest armor that I had available...not the best.  IM like WTF???  This is new...this had worked before and now with the new update, it doesnt.

Check your faction to make sure it doesn't have the disadvantage "Can't wear armor." 

The one I can think of that has this is Resoln/Oracle Ceresa.

I haven't had a chance to play 0.80 yet but don't you need to add a special trait to your units so they can equip chain/plate now? They can't upgrade out of leather if they don't meet the requirements to equip chain. Sounds like this change completely kills the armor upgrade option, not that it wasn't terrible beforehand anyway.

I don't think those traits apply to squads. I think they're meant for heroes.

My custom hammer bearers upgrade from leather to chain ok.  Haven't tried plate yet because I'm playing with a custom race that uses masterwork chainmail.

DOH!!  Im a noob...somehow i forgot to put my iron mine down on my iron...strange...i remember selecting it on my city, but there was nothing there.  When I did i had ore and it worked!!
