[.75 exploit] Infinite mana / gold exploit

Spell leech is a water rank 3 spell.  It can be used in combat to interrupt an enemy spell caster and drain / create 40 mana.  Can easily be used on a caster like a necromancer, to keep increasing mana as long as one wishes to stay in tactical combat.

Also can be used to create infinite gold, converting mana to gold if one has the alchemy spell.  Ruins the difficulty if resources can be created too easily, so I suggest a fix.  Perhaps, spell leech can only be used once per combat like summons?

One could probably change the Alchemy Spell instead.

In FE I once went from only a small amount of mana in one battle to over 2000.  I had a high spell mastery and that air elemental sure loved trying to cast Titan's Breath!  It gets boring after a while. ;-)

just limit mana gain from this spell to 120 per tactical combat, after that point no mana gained (but spell still interupted).

also infinite mana for mobs looks illogical, why goddamned wizard can cast despair nonstop when you epic hero limited by mana pool?

Yah, i'm liking sharpx's idea.  Just limit the number of times you can abuse it in tactical.  Every caster has counter spell??  Spell leech is just an upgrade to that, to  steal mana -- but there should be a cap.

Im adding a cooldown to Spell Leech.

I'm not sure we shouldn't be able to counter once/turn.

you still get the basic counterspell from path of the mage. not sure if other paths really need a counterspell - i guess it's ok to have that metamagic stuff more on the mage side of things.

True, for some reason I was thinking needing to be fire mage.. but that's the counterspell that causes damage.  Doh.

@ Derek, ty for reply.  Even with a cooldown...I think you could just use normal counter spell untill cooldown is off, and then spell leech.   You can reduce the cost of counter spell to virtually nothing with buffs / traits.  Or you could use more than one mage, etc.

It'd obviously be more of a hassle, but you could still do it.   It'd be a temptation to stay in tactical longer and just drain a mob, even though its really boring.

The best change would be to not allow creatures to cast spells infinitely.  Players can't do it.  While giving monsters a mana pool would allow for some other really cool stuff (Drain Mana and Mana Burn come to mind), that might be tough to program (or easy, I really don't know), so maybe just limiting how many times they can cast each spell that is at their disposal.

That said, I'm not sure that Spell Leech shouldn't have a cooldown, anyway.
