Can Not End Turn

I'm playing the FE purchased and downloaded via steam on Windows vista.  After many hours of playing If I attempt to move my army onto an enemy city space ie to attack, it does not bring up the battle screen but only shows the dot to dot path that signifies future movement, even though the army should be able to move in this turn.  Once that occurs no action can be taken to end the turn, including the end turn button or fulfilling ally army and city action orders.  I've tried many times to quit the game, restart from a few turns earlier, only attempt to move onto one square depth of the enemy city etc. I'd spent many hours playing and would like to finish only to have the 'end game' button stop working at the "end game" phase of the game.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had this issue with my game last night.  To work around it, I simply saved the game where I was, exited to the main menu and reloaded.  The game started operating normally for a turn or few, then would stop responding again.  I went through this cycle about 5 to 10 times, then it stopped happening and I continued to play normally.  Should have saved a save game to send in.

One of the last times it happened, I noticed that the move I had tried to make, seemed to occur a couple of minutes after it "stuck".  I didn't try just letting the game sit for a few minutes.  Maybe it was trying to work through something.  : /

thanks for the replay.

I've copied the save game to WinXp with the same result.   

This did occur on the first city I attacked.  like you mentioned, I exited the game, restarted FE and continued to play normally. This problem occurs on the second city I have attacked and is not recoverable, even rebooting the system does not help.

Did have the same problem and seems to be after a trigger fail

 

happen to me once when a scout got attacked by some enemy but it all did freeze

Turns out I was mistaken about the issue going away.  ...at least permanently.  I've basically won this game, but it's still annoying.  I wanted to smash everyone and try my hand at the big crevice worm.  : /
