restore land -summer- spell question

mana sites?

I have used the restore (or revive/summer?) land spell a number of times, and gotten some land to support a new settlement (usually 3x3x0). Has anyone ever gotten mana generating settlement sites via casting restoring the land? EDIT and if so, what did you do to get it?

Essence is usually given off by adjacent shards, crystals, and upgradeable lairs. Restore the land near them and you might get some fertile essence tiles.

I had no idea the spell worked this way!! It never gave me anything settle-able so I thought it was just a way to get a lumber yard near a settlement.

@ Chubberz: It usually takes 2 -3 repeated castings of the summer spell (all near each other) to get one or more settle sites.

Every tile is influenced by its surrounding tiles. Each add bonuses to grain and materials (and essence sometimes), when you get enough bonus together (a total adding to I 6 or more) you should get a settable location. This is how the game decides how things work.

For essence you do need a shard, crystal crag, monument location. If they add an essence the chances are that you have reached the magic number 6 and has already shown on the map. But if such a place is living inside a swamp, then this would be a good place to get an essence location, but not likely to happen.

I wish the AI used this spell effectively to make more cities. On a small map, using this spell easily nets me 3-6 additional cities so AI sovs will have 4-8 cities while I'll be rocking 15 in a small corner of the map without taking cities from other sovs.

likewise you could turn the number to 8 and have "no bad cities". this is good for player and AI, and has made for interesting games, especially on larger maps.

It would also "force" use of this spell to have "more cities", making the spell better.
