[Feed Back] OP Pariden wolf monks

Playing as Pariden I found creating a custom unit that stacked dodge was incredibly powerful.  In the early game I was able to make a unit with +30 dodge then later in the game +40.   In an entire game I think I only lost 8 of these guys over a 10 hour game.   At least half of those were to dragon breath or spells.  There were very few killed by normal attacks.

Wolf Rider Monk

 +5 Sindarian Staff

 +5 Monk Robe

+10 Cloak of Shadows

+10 Warg

+10 Lithe

Armor, equipement, and other skills as preferred.

Haha, you should try it with the Wraith, who get a natural +30 to dodge. It is great.

Not really unique to Pariden, and as Naidrev pointed out, they don't even do it best, any faction using Wraiths does.

Custom faction with wraiths, lucky, and the pariden monk staff trait. 5 damage weapons suck though.

I made a custom faction a while back with wraith blood, lucky, and enchanters specifically to use a build like this. It is quite powerful, but there are many abilities which boost accuracy, as well as the Tremor spell which outright forbids Dodge, and these kinds of troops are completely useless without their Dodge, so it's certainly counterable.

if you replace the staff with a shield, you end up with pretty much the same dodge (depending on which shield you pick - wooden shields are worse, but kite shields and tower shields actually give more dodge), plus you can combine it with any one handed weapon (and pretty much every one handed weapon deals more damage or at least adds a special attack)

dodge units are nice, but when they fail to dodge, they usually lack the armor to survive the hits. and as others have said, amarians aren't really that great. pick wraith for the innate 20 dodge or kraxis - they also get 20 dodge while they sit in their fortifications, and they can use one handed spears+shields which deals more damage (at least the 2nd and 3rd tier spears), and gives them 2 special attacks. for some extra cheese, make a custom faction based on one of the two and add the lucky trait and a death+air mage hero for the blind spell that decreases chance to hit - basically "reverse dodge" - and the evade buff for even more dodge

I've been using lately a custom wraith faction with lucky, tough, defensive, and light plate. This is a good way to get very nasty units.
