LH Roads

I wondered how people felt about roads in LH?

I find after getting trade I often have a crazy route between 2 cities that will make travel between them impossible. In FE I would attempt to get and Administrator hero and then build roads but that was bugged. I find it difficult as maintaining the roads between my cities to be extremly important and its frustrating to have such an intergral part of how I build and empire be so buggy.

I have discovered the cheat where I can cast the outpost towers and build a road but it does seem to be an exploit. It is extremely silly that after I can cast that spell, anywhere on the map. 

 

Thoughts of changes. 

a. When trade becomes available, let me pain the road paths. 

b. Allow cities to build at cost more road connections.

c. Road building units?

d. Casting costs of outposts should be dependant on the distance from the closest city, to stop me building highways though other peoples territory.

e. outposts should have a range from your influence from casting.

after reasearching roads, a unit with the task has to connect road from city to city. any units. it has to be finished, without unit being destroyed.

 

multiple units from many directions can meet & connect roads.

My suggestions:

 

Roads should grow over time- caravans should actually make the roads as they scoot about.

 

Roads to outposts should grow 1 tile per turn from the outpost with economics.

 

Also, roads should connect to the capital and towns (not fortresses/conclaves), 1 tile per turn here as well.

 

If a Governor with Road Building is in a city, road building should be doubled.
