Are heroes supposed to be able to be killed?

General Carrodus got a Cracked Skull before he got any experience (started at L9).  Then he got defeated again, and got killed.  Is this intentional?   Is it a result of getting Cracked Skull before gaining any experience and then getting defeated again, and/or is it a bug?

That would be lame if they never died

Personally, I am in favour of allowing champions and sovereigns to die in exchange for making them a bit stronger. I think it's a fair tradeoff. They can "resurrect" if they are "killed" and the army still wins, but if all the army is defeated, heroes should die, as well as sovereigns.

If a sovereign die, make the higher level champion the new sovereign. If there are no more heroes available then spawn a L1 champion/sovereign in your capital.

The army still won, but Carrodus still was listed as "Killed" rather than "Injured".  I would be very interested about new rules regarding hero death in LH (if any) which didn't exist in FE.

normally a champion should only die if it is killed while you do not control a city for it to retreat to... that is a strange issue, I will try to reproduce it in house and forward it on

But is it really dead?  Even if the GUI says killed.  You still have them next round ?  like gimped up in some city needing x number of seasons to recover..

killed raises some eyeballs.  maybe it should just say defeated.

I was able to reproduce this in house but this is what happened. The UI said it had been killed (which is a bug for sure) but if you hovered over the actual unit it said he would be recovering in town (which he then did). Let me know if someone has had a scenario where they are sure the unit really died as it will change by bug report.

Thanks for the info

opinions aside for a bit.

I believe that the way heroes are supposed to work, is that if they fall in combat, they sustain a semi-permanant "injury" and are returned to the front line or to the nearest city, depending on the circumstances. AFAIK, it is not possible for any hero or champion to die permanantly, and any behaviour in which that happens, is a bug. unless the developers have made some statement to the contrary, any hero which is "killed" and then removed from your empire, is an example of buggy/nonfunctional behaviour

This is correct, also add in... sovereigns do not receive injuries, if they fall in battle however, you lose half your current mana pool and they also have the waiting period in a city.

And if you have no cities they are lost if the army dies.

I didn't see Carrodus in any of my armies or any of my cities after he got killed, unless it wasn't showing up in the UI (unlikely).
