If this is my first FE game, should I try the beta?

I was wondering if it would be a good idea for a newcomer to the series to start playing for the first time during the beta. I'm concerned about a lack of guides or tutorials that might hinder my fun. In addition, is this game coming out next month?

If you do the beta, you might get it tomorrow or Friday.  I think the game is in a good enough state that a beta won't be too painful.   As for a lack of guides/tutorials, you'll learn over time, this isn't a MP game where you're going to get destroyed.  Losing can be fun in games like this.

NO.

Betas should only be tried by those who are ready to put up with bugs and often bad game play.  The purpose of the public beta is for people to give input on what they'd likee to see improved prior to release.

FE 1.3 is really a better bet than LH beta 1.

The strange looking frog is right. The beta is going to have all sorts of issues. Betas always do. Start with the finished product, FE. It's frankly good enough to give you plenty of pleasure. And once you've become familiar with it--whether that's in a few weeks, or in a few days because you have no real life ;) --you can always move to LH's beta.

Am I understanding you correctly if the beta is coming out next week-ish, I could preorder it and since it comes with FE, I could just play that instead?

Or should I order FE separately?

Well I could be off the mark here, but pretty sure this correct....

They're essentially 2 different games, obvisouly a lot in common but thy're 2 seperate things.  I don't believe you get FE with LH.  If you pre-order LH you would be able to play in the beta but you wouldn't be able to play FE.

If you buy FE now it will cost you about $30.  Then you can upgrade to LH later if you want probably for about $20.

If you buy LH now you'd only get access to the LH beta (no FE) and it would cost you about $40 (I think).

I'd recommend the first option, go get FE and get stuck into it, it's a cool game.

End of Frogboy's quote

I agree with Frogboy don't play the beta play the better polished game of FE instead. It's not all that much difference anyways except for bugs and flaws that will crop up. Some of US even think FE 1.3 is BETTER than the upcoming LH which is going to dumb down a lot of things in the game.
