Quest Maps?

Sorry.  Stupid question.  But where does one buy 'quest maps', assuming this has been researched?  Do you buy them from a shop in your area of influence?

 

Again, pardon my ignorance.  I am playing my first game after having read the excellent newbie guide provided, and note a strategy where one runs quest loops by using quest maps.

 

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

After you have researched the tech that lets you recruit lvl 5 heroes in the magic tech tree, you can buy one for 100 bucks at your local shop  (when you have selected you sovereign or  a champion below hisser stats on the world map you'll find a button "SHOP"). Each time you hit the shop button you can purchase one given that you have the money.

Ok, well that explains why I was unable to purchase quest maps, as no Wanderlust trait!

If Altar or a custom faction with the Wanderlust trait is present in your game, and they have researched the requisite techs that allow them to purchase quest maps, I believe that you can purchase quest maps from their shop. I am not, however, sure of this, and determining what the AI has or has not researched can occasionally be problematic.

Yes, you are right - if any faction with Wanderlust is still in the game, and you are not at war with them, you can buy Quest Maps from their shop.  I have done it myself. =)
