Units move automatically

This is making me mad. You give your troops a target to move to on the world map, and they move there... and as soon as they get there, an allmighty force makes them move to another target, far far away. If you want to move them one single tile to fight an enemy/get an item and they run off to wherever for their remaining move points, it gets extremly f***ing annoying.

What is this? I tried to put them on guard for a round, but later they just run off again to an unknown destination. Also i clicked the explore button and then gave them a normal target again, but the bug still remains.

I had this bug a number of times. Unfortunately I haven't figured out a way to stop the affected unit from auto-moving so I had to abandon those games (3 abandoned out of, say, 15).

next time see if it persists through a savegame, and you could include this so the devs actually had a unit to look at :)

It is conceivable that you had a unit in your stack with autoexplore "enabled".

As far as I know (and I'd love it if someone would clue me in here) there is no way to disable autoexplore once you've hit the hotkey. This keybind will allow your units to pick a random unexplored destination through the maw of the nearest dragon or faction with whom you are at war. Just one of those lovable foibles of the game which should be avoided at all costs.

In all fairness, this is something imported as a concept from GalCiv2, where it worked great, but was just not implemented well for the Elemental (and Fallen Enchantress) game world.

This has happened to me before as well.  There was one game I quit because it kept happening.  It hasn't happened in my last 5 games, though.

I still vote autoexplore be easier to detect whether its active or not...
I need big flashing neon lights or something before I notice myself.

End of TBS's quote

It is possible, just difficult. Auto-explore is a toggle, but it doesn't show it, if it is active. You just need to try it a few times to properly deactivate it.

The problem described in the OP is not caused by a unit having auto-explore on.  I have only used auto-explore once, and it was in a different game than the ones I experienced the problem in.  It happens when you're manually moving the unit, even if you go square-by-square.  It only seems to happen when moving to specific squares.  You move up to it just fine, but as soon as you enter that square, your army runs off somewhere else.  I wish I'd kept my savegame where I was trying to get my army to move into a specific square so I could post it.
