New to the game with question about building cities

Hey ppl,

I have just bought the game on steam and I am enjoying it atm. Still I have a question about building cities, as I have noticed you can only build them on the ground with prod/food supplies. Yet, there are really little prod/food supplies in the map and sometimes a major part of a map is without any food/prod supplies. Can I increase the food/prod supplies in some way, so that all factions can expand their cities in more directions? I mean currently it seems unfair when you start at a point where you can build only one city, whereas another faction can build 3 cities right away. What am I missing over here?  :S

Having territory within your borders will brighten up and reinvigorate the land, having a chance (depending on the terrain, not a random roll) to boost the natural resources and give more food.

There is a certain spell you can cast within the game.

Before  the game, you can try to choose the different maptypes, I think temperate should give the best chances for city locations.

Also if you have plenty of time you can make custom map stamps with the workshop, but thats more like a "modding" option ;)

I think there was a map mod though, hmmm
Found this, dunno if its working: https://forums.elementalgame.com/433981

Aha, so I should use temperate in options. Also this map mod seems very cool and this was what I was talking about. I just hope it works with the stormworld mod. Thx mate!

Btw, are there any new maps to download? I am looking at FE Modding forums, but the only map mod I could find is the one you linked here.

End of Luraz's quote

Beside the official DLC which cost money, I don't think so.
I blame the crummy map editor xD...
Most players I figure would rather make custom map stamps though (I am assuming here), a map stamp is a bit of premade map which the map generator use to generate the random maps.
Haven't touched it myself due to disagreeing with the editor (yea I argue with my computer... ;))

Aaah, cool. Ok Gonna buy the map pack:) Even though I probably will only use one map and that is the huge one, hehe. But first gonna play my game on the big map of FE to see if that map is really big or not.

There are some creative uses of raise/lower land that you can also use to expand settlement options, especially land nearby existing resources, such as shards, wild grain, etc. If you are in a starting location that looks rather dead a good idea might be to build a ton of zone of control expanding buildings to open up your expansion options.
