Game Scoring

Surely someone has asked this question before, but I simply can't find it. I'm probably not very good using the search option on this site.

When I first loaded the new FE, I got a score of 10,000 right off the bat. Since then, I have tried and tried and can't get above 9,000. I even extend my games a bit to grow my population, and I'm sure the extra time hurts me somewhat. I just wonder which dings me more--a lower population or taking too long to finish the game?

If Stardock could toss out the algorithm (or if someone has it figured out) it would be appreciated!

BTW--I did find one post on scoring with one reply, and it didn't answer my question. However, the idea of a "high score" table was mentioned. Is there a way to go back and view my score history? If not, will that be an option in the future?

What difficulty level are you playing on? The higher the difficulty, the higher the score. I wasn't paying attention to end-game scores until the last three games, but I know my first few on lower difficulties were in the teens. The last three games were 30,000; 101,000; and 41,000 ~ish. Of those three, the middle game was in Ridiculous world, with Insane AI, the other two were Ridiculous world with Ridiculous AI.

Wow!! I'm playing on challenging. The game where I scored 10,000+ was actually on easy or novice... can't remember. I know it wasn't challenging, and I've been slowly moving up in difficulty as I play.

My guess is a combination of:

Game length. The Longer the game, the less score

Victory type. Some victorys are probably worth more then others. My guess is Quest, spell of making, conquest, then Alliance, in decending reward

Game dificulty. This one speaks for its self. Higher dificulty, higher score.

I personally just won a Normal Conquest game against 5 AI and got 12k (3rd highest rank), but i also had well over 10k pop

Also, little off topic here, but pls Stardock, for the love of all that is right in the world, add a Hall of Fame Id like to compare how iv done in previus games a little easyer

As for scoring, I had some guesses as to what counts and what doesn't, but I didn't know if there was some algorithm to make that determination. Let's say 1000 seasons for game length is "normal"... it doesn't help or hurt your score. If you finish in 500 does it double your score? Is it linear? Is the damage to your score increasing exponentially or linearly the further you get away from the 1000? Same with population. I mean... once you get into the late game, you can keep researching agriculture and your population will soar. But are you actually losing more points due to time than you're gaining in population?

Regarding scoring, in my score list it shows 10,000 as the top score. Of course, I haven't played a game on any level higher than "challenging". Oh--and I realized that I had left the computer AI on "normal". You have settings for both... opponent AI and game difficulty.I don't suppose someone from SD would jump on here and give us any clues...?!?

Oddly enough, last night I beat the game on Insane/Insane with a score of only 56,413. I won with a master quest victory in turn 84, but my sov was only level 9 or 10 and I only had a population of 1,263. So it would seem to me that population and Sov levels might be weighted more heavily than time, since my score over 100,000 was in turn ~120ish with a sov of level 20 or so and a population of over 10,000 (wanted to get that achievement).

edit: Oh and I try and remember to take screenshots of the score screen since they don't have a hall of fame yet, that way I can look back and see what I've done.

Where is there a list of what achievements exist and which you've gotten? I haven't been able to find it in-game or on the website. Also, is there any reason to be logged in while playing aside from allowing achievements to be recorded?

Press CTRL+TAB to open the interface. If you are logged in, you will get several options, among them achievements.
