[1.2 patch idea] Change how Static defense works

Static defense= militia and other things.

Simply put: noticing way too much raiding being way too effective, for both player and AI.   FE is always going to have the stack of doom issue, so make the game revolve around them more.

Suggested fixes:

Allow cities and conclaves to build walls and other defensive structures.   Limiting it to fortresses just makes no sense.

2nd change:  unrest impacts militia strength.  High unrest= less militia, low unrest= more militia.   around 25% unrest= current militia.

Militia should have 2nd-tier armor/weapons, except for fortresses, where it should be 1st tier.

Outposts should also have a minimum strength needed to enter, so single units can't just spread havoc easily.

One other change, have a lower-tier siege unit, and give siege units a combat bonus in city battles.

All nice idea so far.

The only thing I would see different, is the siege weapon issue.

Rather than giving those bonuses in city battles, I would give the city defenses a classical representation on the battlefield. Walls... effin Walls! :D

Classical and there for a reason.... it's just a nice mechanic and brings some spice into games like these.

I really miss this and on some other note.... it still feels weird to me, that in a world full of monsters and dangers and things that want to eat you, towns and conclaves don't get the incredible idea of building walls....

Classical walls would likely be a huge problem for the AI, walls would be neat but tactical battles aren't developed well enough for that, and I'm also thinking of quick combat.

Yes, you're probably right about that.

I still hope for a trinity of three addons, each focused on one of the aspects combat, heroes and strategy. Something like the walls I mentioned above would at best be part of a whole addon for tactical combat.

I like the 'walls' & 'militia' ideas, but I think that outposts should be a little bit like towns.

Each outpost should have some kind of default 'militia' unit to defend them - upgradeable, of course, with 'construction.'  After all, they are outposts.  There should be some kind of defense for them - and the mechanic for this already exists.

I agree, but I think a minimum strength might be a better idea to avoid player cheesing.
