Foreign Relations screen: Why do I sometimes see the reasons for the other sovereign's attitude and sometimes I don't?

The Foreign Relations screen shows attitude values in the left column and further details to the right. Among those details are the reasons for the attitude - sometimes. About half of the time there is no section ("Relations With Us") above "Active Treaties" and "Foreign Policy" in the right column.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the diplomacy UI in FE just plain sucks.  It is almost completely useless.

Frogboy broke it even further when he introduced the new AI trade screen that offers absolutely no relevant information when an AI player offers a trade.

I always decline trade requests because I have no idea of what the impact will be if I were to accept.

The UI in general sucks. But this seems to be a bug on top of it.

From what I've seen, the pattern appears to be that the list of reasons is only set during the AI-turn processing and is not included in saves, like the list of city events or enemies in your territory.  When I first load from a save, the list of reasons is always empty; when I have ended at least one turn since loading, the list is always populated.

This seems likely although I need more tests to confirm.

The pattern seems to be even more general than that. I just conquered a city and the sections "Resources" and "Shards" on the details screen were missing. They were filled when I looked during the next turn.

I just realized I totally hijacked your thread with something unrelated to the original post, because I read it wrong.

My apologies.

At least it counts as a bump! xD
That said, I would repost this after the holidays, I think the development team is on vacation and isn't noticing any bug reports at the moment.

May I hijack your concern in return? Of course we need information when we have to make decisions:

  • When leveling up a city, I may want to look up the city details. (*)
  • When leveling up a unit, I may want to look up the unit statistics. (*)
  • When deciding on an offer, I may want to consult ... - what exactly? There is no single screen which summarizes the necessary information.

The UI should provide for this.

(*) In both cases only some information is shown.
