[1.1 BUG] Attacking when you don't want to during a tactical battle bug still exists... FIX IT!
Sometimes you just want to reposition your unit and not attack or reposition and cast a spell, but they attack anyway. FIX IT!

If you can provide a save I'm glad to check it out. I've never seen it in hundreds of hours of playing unless i clicked on an enemy when i was trying to move.
But if you do find a situation where it happens and can show a save beforehand I'd love to take a look.
This has happens when the mouse becomes dis-aligned from the actual location of the mouse. I can confirm it still exists but you can fix it by zooming in and out which for some reason causes the mouse to realign with the actual location of the mouse. So to be very detailed and clear, whats happening is, your mouse appears to be 1 tile away, or in another location and because your mouse is not where it shows on the screen, it results in misclicks and it makes it seem as though the game is just attack moving.
Another issue which still exists, and i do not yet have a solution or know the cause is later in the game the tactical combat will start to make it appear as though your move tiles do not exist and you can not move until you do some sort of other animation with the unit freeing it from this state. Another thread on this issue exists though and I'm sure SD is aware.
I don't think this particular issue is about mouse dislocation. I see this all the time, and I probably play my tactical battles a bit differently from Derek.
if I have a unit that has attacked an enemy in melee and my unit gets a new turn. The target is still alive. I want to move my unit to a new place to make room for other units or switch to a target I couldn't reach with previous move. That's when it happens. I click on the target tile and if my unit can attack from that tile the unit it attacked previously, then it does.
It's very easy to reproduce.
Attack something in combat. move in with other unit (not sure it's necessary).
Try to move the first unit on a spot neighbouring the previously attacked target.
Chances are good your unit will auto attack previous target regardless of having available skills/items/spells it can use
On the next turn you'll be able to use them as normal.
The behaviour is similar to the auto defense and if there is a bug I'd look it down there.
This is what I would say as well. I have seen this bug, it exists, and it is annoying.
Sorry I don't see where I can make a new post?
I am having troubles. I can no longer increase my army size. I start out with 3 units. Then as I research advances that increase the size, nothing changes. I end up with groups of 3 fighting groups of 7.
I have been playing against and with 16 to 28 AIs on huge maps.
Anyone else have this or suggestions?
Thanks.
There is a button at the top of the page - create post.
And to answer your question.
You can't upgrade in vanilla game the number of people in squad of a trained unit (you can in Master Affliction mod)
You can train larger units by selecting larger squads at the top of window when you train new unit in city. (figurines of people)
Thanks for the help! Good thing (maybe not) that I don't play FPS with my vision!
As to not being able to upgrade the sizes of my squads...did this change? Awesome though and thanks again!
OK now for a another game tonight!
[1.11] Autoattack bug is old. I reported it here. Way to reproduce: In tactical battle your unit should be in tile that is not adjacent to monster. From that position you are to right-click the monster to attack it immediately (it is important). Get away from the monster. Get close to the monster. Autoattack triggers.
Thanks Harmonious! I knew it had been reported by others besides me. Derek now has several forum users agreeing the bug exists and video proof from you. Derek, what game are you playing?
I always thought this was intended. You can't run past units once you've already engaged. I kinda like it.
hey sweaty, what about when you just want to reposition your guy one square and then cast a spell? you can't! i'm not trying to run past him, i'm just moving one square and he automatically attacks which doesn't allow me to cast the spell.
here's another example... you want to reposition your guy to let one of the cyrendrum demons take the kill shot so they can multiply? you can't! because the guy you move one square automatically attacks and kills the unit.
now do you see why this bug needs to be fixed?
Of course it is bug because you can avoid it. You don't activate autoattack if you attack monster in two right-clicks: 1) get close to monster, 2) attack him. But you activate autoattack if you attack monster in one right-click and your unit is not close to monster.

I can see how it could occasionally be annoying. It's undocumented (and it might be a bug), but at least it is consistent behavior. If you understand the mechanism, adjust your tactics to compensate. You want someone else to attack, pass your turn, or, you know, walk that unit backwards, away from the unit it's going to auto-attack.
The reason I like it is that it's one of the few features of tactical that is actually tactical.
Thanks guys, we have fixed this internally and it'll make it into a future update.
P.S. I can't turn the bold off for some reason. Sorry about that.
That took a looooong time
... This bug have been around forever >_<
But THANKS!
