Units moving by themselves

Hi I'm new to this game and have played for about 10 minutes.

I don't know why but my oracle keeps trying to move by itself every turn  in the same direction to the north east like it has some death wish.

The only temporary fix I have found is that if I move it myself every turn the oracle can't move in that direction by itself. Explore is turned off yet it keeps doing it and its really really annoying.

Anyone know whats going on?

Try clicking "Explore", until you see a green path showing, then click "explore" once more, I found 99% of the times I had wonky movement, its the bloody auto-explore, and its refusal to turn off properly.

I also wish I had some way of knowing if explore was turned on or off...

(But I never use it now, which solves that problem.)

Thanks for the advice.

Wasn't able to test your method as I decided to restart the game and never ever touch the explore button again.

I think the button should highlight in green when auto explore is on and it should switch off if you take a manual action with that unit.

That sounds like a good idea, but I imagine it would not be sufficient, since sometimes toggling explore causes movement.
