Swap Weapon in Tactical Combat

Is it possible to equip/swap different weapons on a given hero while in tactical combat?  Right now it seems like I can only do that on the map screen BEFORE I go into combat, which means choosing what I'm going to attack and outfitting appropriately.  If that's the way it's meant to be that's fine, but it can't hurt to ask :)

It would be nice to be able to switch between weapons without hopping into the equip screen.  Though when I think about it, there's not always much reason to, unless you want to switch to a spear to avoid counterattacks.

I was just thinking that it would be good to be able to switch weapons to use the appropriate type for the appropriate defence, or e.g. to switch to melee weapons once something has closed on you after doing ranged attacks
