Can't design upgradeable units with one-handed Cutting Attack

I see this in every game, regardless of whether I am playing a stock or a custom faction...

I research Weaponry, so I have access to both the dagger and the axe. I can then design units thatspecifically use either of these weapons.  However, when I click the icon in the design window to make the weapon choice upgradeable, it says "No items of this type are currently available", and it therefore won't let me create a unit with upgradeable weapons in this category.

All other design choices - e.g. One-handed Blunt Attack, all armors, etc. - work fine and I can design units with upgradeable aspects in every other category.

One thing I'd like to see on the upgradable units- maybe a way to avoid selecting certain items on upgradable due to costing crystal instead of metal.

The upgradable weapon options also need to distinguish between blades and axes.  Depending on your intended use for a unit, changing from a blade (initiative bonus, counterattack) to an axe (initiative penalty, backswing) or vice-versa may not be an "upgrade" at all, even if the base damage increases.

I'll also second Alstein's comment.  I pretty much stopped using "upgradable" design options when I played on a map with no crystal or iron resources, then watched all my upgradable designs become unavailable as soon as I had sufficient Magic tech to unlock enchanted weapons for them.
