General Carrodus and the other bloke


Hi All, first post from me.  Great game for playing on my laptop while on the road but to get to the point:

There are 10 factions in the game but only 8 Sovereigns?  Any particular reason?  Reading through the Heirogeronimo General Carrodus sounds like a bit of a badass so I'd love to play as him - but what should his attributes be?  Is he a Warlord, or a General, I've read somewhere he should be wealthy, but what magic disciplines should he have?

Also the other guy for the darkelves - can't remember his name.  I noticed that the AI is capable of randomly selecting created Sovereigns when you creat a new map so ideally I'd like to add both Carrodus and the other bloke into my Sovereign list so I have got 10 unique factions to play with on the big new mega map.

btw does the big new mega map have fixed starting locations?  That would be awesome.

Kula Khan or something like that.  Both are in the game still as champions that can be hired, level 9.  Carrodus is a general, I think Air and life go well, and wealthy really goes well with capitar.  Kula Khan of Umber is a beastmaster, and I think death and earth or death and water are his magic.  I think he was "Brilliant" in the old game, and it's probably a good choice for him in this one too.

General Carrodus is now a champion (level 9 I think) that can be recruited if you find it (and have the money, and the tech). It is not a sovereign. Another question is that you create a sov, and call him "General Carrodus"...

There are 2 factions that were created (umber and mancers, I think) but did not get a sovereign. So, you have to create a sov for them, to play with/versus them. Remember to choose the proper faction when creating...

Apart from these basic factions, you can create new factions, only that they will share one of the available faction blood, but you can customize other traits.

So you can create as many sovs/factions as you wish, if you like populated maps...I saw a post of someone telling he is playing with 20 AI, and he would like to add up to 40 or more... I was curious, so I created a huge map (see Mods Forum) with 20 AI to try...very funny...although the game is gonna be looong...until i get bored and lead for the Master Quest or the Spell of making, but it really deserves to try

Thanks for the replies, and yes I have gone into the CoreUnits.xml and turned both Carrodus and Kulan into Sovereigns of their respective empires again.  Everything seems to be working ok, I can post up the modified <UnitType> entries if anybody is interested.

It is just a matter of making a few tweaks then downgrading their abilities to reflect a starting Sovereign so Carrodus I left with Air I, Life I, added Wealthy (Capitar) and Veteran (he has been around a bit and is meant to be quite old I think).  Kulan I left with Death II, Water I and added Brilliant.

Please do I want them as custom sovs with their canon abilities and stats, though I can't really mod well. Though the level reset is nice but no ad ons please.

Ok here are the unit entries that you need to make Carrodus and Kulan turn into Sovereigns again.  You just have to open your CoreUnits.XML file, and replace the existing entries with these.

The Sovereign abilities are in my previous post, both come equipped with a Rusty Shortsword.  Carrodus favours Mobile Warfare (likes to build mounted troops) while Kulan prefers Swordsman (Skath Claw etc.).  The only thing I haven't changed is the backstory voiceover, both of which are defaulted to Relias' - but that is pretty minor.  Everything else all works fine as far as I can tell.  BUT I haven't tested this extensively so use at your own risk and make a backup of your CoreUnits.XML file.
