New(ish) player questions

Some things I haven't read in the manuals but am unable to find in the forums:

1. What is rejuvenation exactly? Apparently some tiles can become settling spots, but it only happens from cities.. that disallow settling close to them. DO outposts provide rejuvenation? Also the game manual claims there are two researchable spells to rejuvenate, I never remember seeing either of them in my spell book... will check today after work.

2. Road qualities: Are there different road qualities? Some form posts seem to suggest this but I haven't seen anything about this, either in the manual or forums.

3. Do henchmen count as heroes when splitting experience? OR as troops? If as troops: sweet mother of bejeezus...

1. all spells available ingame (without modding) could be found there (as I never run into such spell during my playthroughs either)

2. Only one road quality in vanilla game.
3. Should count as heroes, however there is some reducing mechanism for splitting XP between second, third etc. hero in party

1. Rejuvenation is easiest to achieve from cities, but as you noticed, it is useless too close to the city.  As a result, you are best off deciding which direction you want to rejuvenate, and snake that way.

Outposts can provide rejuvenation, but it is unclear whether it's a bug, or an (un)intended effect of some improvements.  The effect is certainly unreliable.

There is a rejuvenation spell, but it is stupidly expensive, and does not always work.  I play without restoring, so I never bothered to figure exactly what makes it work or not.

2. There is one quality of roads, but if there's a nearby outpost, you can upgrade it with a stable, and then you can go even faster on the road.

3. Henchmen and scions are special.  In my guide, I have them as a separate unit type, 'sidekicks'.  How exactly experience is awarded is the topic of one of the concept entries.  Short version - they do NOT reduce the gained experience.
