Stormworld + Affliction integration?

I tried playing a game with both Stormworld and Affliction (style and substance together at last!). Everything was working pretty well with the exception of champions, which seemed to somehow get pulled from the core rule set and caused several issues (unknown abilities, no abilities, hang on tactical map, etc.)

I'm considering modding the two to work together, and I'm hoping it's just going to require editing the Stormworld champions with Affliction abilities, but there may be more unseen surprises.

I'm checking to see if there's interest in this, and if anyone can predict other pitfalls.

First I would get permission from Heavenfall and Seanw3. But to get these things working together there is going to be a lot of overlap on things. Most of the added content needs to be appropriately balanced with Seanw3 world in mind. Secondly the changes to the core files could cause major problems between the two mods. Although the core is changed someones addition may require a particular form in the core file that was changed. So you are going to have to watch for these dependencies occuring. Lastly, Good Luck with that.

I haven't played MA much so you'll have to figure out what goes where on your own. From my end (and I guarantee seanw3 and Werewindlefr will say the same) you are more than welcome to chop away at the integration. Neither of us have felt the inclination to do so yet. Most likely this is because both mods are still being developed.

The big thing I see causing problems is that Master's Affliction was not developed using the Background Unitstat library (basically a bunch of special unitstats to mark different attributes), which is a pillar of much of Stormworld. Reliquary from Stormworld is also not balanced for MA.

Thanks Heavenfall,

Looking deeper into things it seems that I would have to make changes to Master's Affliction to make it work with Stormworld rather than the other way around, which is a more intensive workload than I was planning. I don't really have enough free time to do it, and it doesn't seem like there's much demand.

Oh well :)

End of Sythion's quote

You have to give it more than a day before you claim there is not much demand, but I understand the amount of work behind that combination.

Actually, since we are the only two completed massive mods, there is probably no one that would choose to play one without the other. I mean content plus better gameplay and strategy is a nobrainer for almost any gamer. But, you would have to add a ton of BG stats to my mod to get it to work and then you would have to edit every unit and hero in SW to use my traits. It could be done in a week or two from a committed and knowledgeable modder. After that it would just be a matter of adding some strength to the monsters from SW. They at least already have plenty of stat personality. It would be a great project. I hope someone takes this on, but as Hf says, we are sill developing and this kind of integration would put me weeks behind. And then there is the expansion coming next year. I want to at least have the basics finished before that happens.

I would like someone to do this, but honestly you could make your own decent sized mod in the time it would take.

I would love to see this happen as well.

Well, and so would I, or at least, I'd like to see Seanw's modular idea resurface.  That way, you could use sections of his mod, such as his building and city advancement changes, on their own, integrated with Stormworld.

...Though I'd dearly love to organize a quest that let you choose one of two sides in a battle, both naturally enemies of yours, along the lines of Seanw's units, with some of Heavenfall's fantasy creations.  And then afterwards, you could get a small artifact, or turn on the party you helped win, and go for two.  Ah, well.

It should be rather simple to just make Sean's building changes work with stormworld. You would just need his building files and some edits.

I give permission to anyone that wants to take a slice of MA and make it modular. But I don't really have time for it.
