[BUG 1.02] Mouseover tooltips fill entire screen

I'm hoping someone can tell me a workaround for this problem, because it makes the game utterly unplayable.  Whenever my mouse crosses any interface icon that has a mouseover tooltip, the tooltip is a blank box that fills the entire screen.  This forces me to re-route my mouse to the very edge of my screen to clear it before I can resume what I was doing, but immediately happens again as soon as I cross something with a mouseover tooltip.

I have tried to play just avoiding using any tooltips but there are some controls and portions of the interface that I literally cannot reach with my mouse pointer without hitting something else.  Not to mention the fact that I cannot find out any of the information that would have been given by hover tooltips (such as what faction traits do, stats on items, etc).

This is happening in v1.02.  I have tried playing the game in different resolutions to no avail.  Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue. Not very encouraging to see this game-breaking bug slip by into the final release...

I'm not getting that problem at all...

Are the tool tip texts looking correct for the subject? Maybe the file vvith the text is corrupt?

I think the game is a long way from its final release.  I understand that Stardock somewhat recently replaced the design team with the one that did GalCiv, and they have lots (and lots) of corrections/improvements/additions to make.  So take heart and report the bugs that you are experiencing and hopefully they will eventually be addressed.

Did you participate in the beta? I had the exact same problem on a laptop where I updated the beta install to 1.02 (I forgot to uninstall beta fully and then install full game).

This game is actually quite stable. It has been beta tested and developed with user participation for months. Throwing out statements about the design team based on your "understanding" only helps to enlighten your lack of information.

I did participate in the Beta and yes used the update file.  I downloaded the full install file, uninstalled existing program, and reinstalled. The problem is gone, thank you.

I had just about given up on this game for good but checked back and saw this post.  I did indeed briefly participate in the beta so I tried this and it solved the problem.  My sincere thanks for taking the time to post your experience!
