[1.0.2] libcurl.dll missing

Hello, I patched FE to 1.0.2 today, but when I try to launch the game, I'm receiving error "The program can't start because libcurl.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I went and downloaded the full installer and tried reinstalling following that, but the error still occurs. This is odd, because the previous version I was running, .9xxx was working fine. Just to check, I also upgraded my video drivers to the latest (GEForce GTX 460), though with no resolution.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Doesnot have anything to do with video drivers, libcurl.dll is a dynamic client-side url transfer library:

I think Visual C++ 2010 redistributables provide it, so just reinstall/repair the package and you should be fine.

Worth a try, no?

Hm, still no luck with the reinstall of the package. Thank you for the suggestion, though.

Did you try searching for the file? Do you have it? If so, what version and where in the filesystem?

I know nothing of programming. But when a .dll is missing, sometimes it works to download it from internet (there are pages with thousands of .dll), and putting it in \system or \system64. You may try that.

That file, I think I found missing in other game, long ago, but can't rememeber anymore about. Maybe reinstalling DirectX?

Also, give some more information of your O.S. to the expert people, they might help you too.

And you can email [email protected]

I would be wary to just "download the file from Internet", since there are a lot of infected ones. It's the easiest way to make a trojan horse. Better install from original sources.

In fact it is possible that an antivirus quarantined the file because it was considered infected.

It's also possible that Fallen Enchantress installs its own version. In that case, reinstalling the game could help.

I will look at it when I am home, it's important to find out what package/application provided the dll.

In any case, don't download it "from the internetz", you will end up with infected computer.

I just did a search of my xp machine for the libcurl.dll and found only two listings, one for notepad++ updater and one in elemental fallen enchantress the fe one has the date of 18th of october 2012, the notepad++ one is dated 19th july 2011, so my suspision is that your FE installer and installation is corrupt. I suggest re-downloading the full installer and un-installing the fe you have currently installed as we were requested to completely un-install the beta fe before installing the release fe, then trying the full installer again.

I redownloaded the full installer and tried installing it again, and that fixed it. Like you said, it must have corrupted the last time.

Everyone, thanks for all the help!
